The recent versions aren't the best they could be, in many ways. Still, the 8 remaster version is incredibly ugly in parts. World map textures and seams are broken and the pre-rendered backgrounds are vaseline smeared, with the characters looking out of place in a way they didn't nearly as much before. Same with 9.
