Now about women, but Hololive taught me to feel empathy again. I was radicalized by social media down a certain pipeline so to speak and it stunted my empathy. It made me very sexist and misogynistic, and made me few everyone who wasn't like me as my enemy and treat them with fear and suspicion. I wound up pushing away all the friends I made in high school until I was totally alone.
Then, I discovered Hololive and saw how much of a healthy found family they all are. They care deeply for each other, always looking out for each other and supporting each other, and always showing deep love and appreciation for their fans, even if they've never met them or know anything about them. They cry easily out of compassion and appreciation, even though I've forgotten how to cry.
The one clip that hit me the hardest was when Okayu fell into Korone's lap after waking up from a nap and said "I missed you," even she was sleeping in the same room as her the whole time. I actually paused the clip and died inside when I saw that. I pushed away every friend I had by being a sociopath, while Korone is such a good person, that Okayu couldn't handle being so much as physically separated from her despite in the room as her for even a few minutes. That hit me so fucking hard bros.
Basically, Hololive taught me is that empathy is a strength, not a weakness. The chuubas have showed me how to be a good friend and a good person. The world is not my enemy. There are people who aren't like me that are still good people.
