I have just god done finished watching Naya Anuka's Part 1 stream VOD of Eternal Darkness and wow, what can I say! Video games, can't live with them, can't live without them. It is certainly one of them. It is a video game. Apparently the game was suggested by a fan through twitch point redemption which she does and it is a video game. A game that is known to many enthusiast but new to a lot of would be viewers. As a sort of forgotten decades old gamecube video game it brings fresh creativity with cool art design and adventurous anthology storyline to what we are mostly exposed to today in media and things happen in it. Things happen in it so things happen on stream which is good and because it's a stream it's not a problem that the gameplay is doo-doo fart boring shit kinda boring. Pretty solid choice for a game I'd say and Naya is a perfectly adequate host with skills and understanding and a curious mind or whatever making it a smooth experience by applying the smallest touch of strategic backseating.
Putting the game aside it seems that she has inundated herself to a gaggle of retro game enthusiast many of them are familiar faces providing us with a stream of mild conversation with a consistent mood. You might say it's a little bit sparse, but that can be a good thing as it stays on topic and doesn't take attention away from the video game except for the occasional fun quick aside about allergies or mat pat or the wild greater storyline of the game. At this point you might realize that this is a solid stream, better than . and I'm certainly excited for part 2.
Watching this made me think that maybe some people are excited to learn how a game is, to take that knowledge into themselves and categorize them. Not me thought. Like Monica Lewinsky, some feeling started gnawing at me from under the table. Maybe I should be doing something else, maybe I'm missing my chance, but instead of opening porn or going on social media I imagined that outside my door there is nothing, nothing but ruins. You wouldn't feel like this if that were the case and what is the difference? So, as the sun set outside my window I enjoyed the VOD until the end. Somewhere around the flayed skin flapping in the acidic breeze a song got stuck in my head. I vaguely recall that the song had a connection to someone I used to know, but past the magic puzzles in luigi's mansion and through the magic puzzles in the ancient piss dungeons I could not recall who it was or what the connection was and it occurred to me that my mind is much like the ruins outside, covered in eternal darkness.

Ok, I have a little time. So anyone that knows how to look at analytics properly should be able to surmise what happened. It is actually a really good lesson for anyone who wants to take streaming more seriously.

When looking at someone’s analytics, there are many things to take a moment to observe. What is a streamer’s content, what times are they streaming, what days do they stream, and lastly, how often.

Consistency is one of the most important factors of streaming, especially when you have a schedule to go along with it. This helps build a sense of routine and expectations from your audience. When those things change, it becomes harder for your audience to know when and where you’ll be streaming.

I started to stream consistently July of 2024 and began to develop a low two view ccv while streaming subnautica. At some point I had the idea to do an ASMR-a-thon where I streamed ASMR only. I thought it would last a week at most and even put in a large starting handicap because I didn’t think it would o go for long. I was wrong.

My viewership began to rise more and more through ASMR which made my time go up more and more. In a couple of months I started to reach around 100 ccv give or take 20 viewers organically (no raids).

I streamed during the night, when the audience activity for ASMR is at some of its highest since twitch is a US based streaming service.

I was starting to burnout and was unsure if I wanted to be known for just ASMR as I had accidentally became an ASMR only streamer for the most part.

I made the decision to end my ASMR a thon early and stream variety, but I also took a mini hiatus. I was becoming less consistent in how often I streamed right before and right after the mini hiatus. My streaming became more infrequent and my content being more diverse again, the audience got lower and lower.

Took a hiatus again that started maybe around may? I don’t remember… the hiatus became longer than expected because I was suddenly out into a position where I had to move. I didn’t stream for months aside from a random stream sprinkled in here and there.


Now because of how my stream setup is in my room instead of a dedicated office and the walls are very thin where I live, I am now limited to streaming during the day. I am still on hiatus but it is now a semi hiatus.

My viewership has lowered because of all these reasons.

But it will go back up as I start being consistent again. If anyone actually read through all of this, I hope you learn from my mistakes! Hope this helps, genuinely.

Oh, I’m perfectly fine, it doesn’t bother me. This was an expected outcome of everything that happened. It will just take time to recover and I’m very patient.

My plan right now is to get my main YouTube to the second tier of partner and then after that I’ll be fully separating my asmr to my asmr channel. I will also likely make a second twitch channel that will have more of that variety focus. That way people who wants ASMR only will know that they will have specific places dedicated to that.

The issue with doing a twist of asmr + variety is that it can put you at a disadvantage and lose you viewers and followers as people don’t want to see variety when they are wanting asmr. You’ll also notice many twitch streamers that do that mixed content will sometimes stream to 500+ people for asmr but fall before 30ccv when not doing asmr. This often leads to people struggling to be accepted into the twitch partner program because their automated system categories the inconsistent viewership as a sign of inflated viewership.

Most vtubers will avoid you, someone already sort of explained it, the art and the vtuber worlds intermingle quite a lot, so modt of these will just decide to not approach you until you get a real PNG.
You will still make some friends, and if you don't learn how to keep your mouth shut about your stance in regards to AI you can also potentially get approach by dramawhores who will cancel you for your view; once again, the artists and the vtubers are quite connected.

I totally get that! I used to do a lot of casual asmr that was just yapping. Finding a cool in between of normal talking and whispering is the sweet spot. I would recommend trying to find other male asmrtists both vtuber and face cam people that sound closer to you and try to see if you can sound similarly soft. I definitely think you could get there.

But, if it isn’t something that interests you, I would then suggest changing to the just chatting category once you’re out of the asmr mindset.

One of the biggest complaints I see from folks is people who categorize under asmr but are just chatting in their non asmr voice.

However, at the end of the day, that’s all up to you.

There's some people with really lovely voices out there for ASMR! JayASMR is a perfect example of a great voice for ASMR! I might try to work on it, I do think I hit it that sweet spot from time to time, but then chat gets silly (I also get silly...) amd back to soft chatting.

I have several mics. I use a 3Dio for asmr most times, but I also have a blue yeti, which is what I started with for asmr. For non asmr I have an xlr 2020 that I use for back up now and a shure sm58 that I use for chatting and singing :)

But you can do a non stereo asmr, it’s not as appealing to people but you would just need to have your mic closer to your mouth and turned up a little bit. If you did want to do stereo you can get used yetis for a decent price
