As it is, there is no difference between what we have and the world save. No one is on, no one is making anything new. What does it matter if the save is on AWS or saved by every Champy who wants it. Besides the Christmas village, this was the last stream when Kiki got on and MADE something.

IDK the nuumbas but I feel like a big portion of Champys were not here almost a year and a half ago, with how much Kiki has grown recently.
All this coming from the Champy who probably put in the most hours over the most days on /pyon/craft.
If the hosting service doesnt allow for downloading the world file I can hack it of for Kiki if she wants. I already grabbed big chunks of it at one point.

for me, the steam version was just another donation button to Tarn when he was down in the shitter with medical bills. which is fine and understandable but it's not my preferred experience and i'd never badmouth the project.

Dwarf Fortress isn't exactly hard or even complicated, it's obtuse and has knowledge barriers and the Steam DF release helps with some of that with cleaner interfaces, pop-ups and tooltip texts. it's not hard to set some certain things up but it's just hard to know WHERE to set it up and WHAT are its consequences, as in WHY you need to set up certain things.

just as an example of the obtuse kind of difficulty: How to tell a specific dwarf to just GO HERE

>find out the wanted dwarf's name
>assign him to that burrow
>he MIGHT go there immediately or might finish whatever task is at hand
>but now he obeys that burrow like a brick wall and will starve to death or go mad inside it if you forget to disable it
this just isn't how many games feel. once you know how, you CAN move specific dwarves where wanted. it's hacky and unnecessary for a new player, but directly commanding dwarves is something that a new player would think when trying to figure the menus and controls. and they wouldn't find what they're looking for.

that's kinda where the knowledge comes in too; what's necessary and what's possible are different things. there's a lot of pointless menu pitfalls that only become relevant later.
at its simplest, if you can manage to put up a fishing spot, fish processing and a kitchen to take away the inevitability of starvation, you can at least keep playing and trying for a while.

What happened is this vtuber, Kanna made a corpo version of this called the "VSMP" months ago. Ume took this concept, created a logo that looked practically the same and just called it "Ume's VSMP".
Kanna caught wind of this and got very upset:

Kanna did have a melty but all her big corpo friends backed her. Then Ume mysteriously changed the logo last minute, called it just "Ume's SMP" and half the vtubers left. The situation was resolved because Ume changed the name but a lot of vtubers got scared and left.
