I assume a big part of the issue is profitability. Anycolor has very healthy profit margins they're constantly growing. Cover has anemic profit margins that aren't growing even when revenue is growing.

Anycolor has net sales of 15768 yen and net profit of 4884 yen giving them a profit margin of around 30%. Compared to Cover which had net sales of 9629 yen and net profit of 693 yen giving them a profit margin of around 7% only. It wouldn't take much going wrong for Cover to start losing money instead of making money they're only just profitable even. Meanwhile Anycolor has a huge buffer of profitability a lot would have to go wrong for them to start losing money.

It's such a cope to try and put the difference in stock price down the share buybacks and such. Both the implication that it's somehow unusual or "cheating" or something and the idea that it accounts for much of the difference when cover is fundamentally just a much weaker business financially. The buyback shit was announced ages ago so has already been factored into the price meanwhile the gap between Anycolor and Cover stock prices has only continued to increase.

HoloEarth is a huge anchor that is dragging down the company and they have an absurd amount of employees working on their Metaverse game. 3D lives at least generate hype and bring in new fans but HoloEarth is turning into a classic money pit. They keep burning money to develop HoloEarth but with constant merch releases the fans don't have that much to waste on HoloEarth..

No one believed they were finished. Too big to fail. But can't deny Gura and others graduating didn't effect Cover. She wasn't negligible. She was a core revenue pillar. They have yet to recover to the point before her announcement. Meanwhile, Anycolor climbed steadily ever since; no dips, just quiet, relentless growth. They don't even have to hunt for the mythical "Gura killer" anymore.
It's the increasing divide between the two companies that is standing out from the past that's impossible to ignore.

early Cover had better contract than Anycolor, and that is why the top Niconico streamers at the time signed with Cover, despite it being a smaller vtuber agency then. Now this advantage hurts Cover back when it became a publicly traded company where profitability gets judged. Probably one of the many reasons why the Dev-is brand is created.
