So many viewers are from lower income countries like the Philippines, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, etc, that Japanese viewers are a minority. Meanwhile, Anycolor talents have a supermajority of Japanese viewers. Now why is this difference important? Ad revenue, donations, merch sales, and most importantly, sponsorships. Anycolor is the de facto vtuber company in Japan, and they can get sponsorships with the heaviest hitting companies. Meanwhile Cover is stuck with cup noodles and 3rd rate gatcha games.

I'm pretty surprised, but if one rule in this world is true, it's that the markets don't lie. Maybe Cover will be able to catch up in the years that come, although I wonder how they will be able to expand their reach into the domestic market when Anycolor has such a stranglehold.
