The manga is fantastic, the anime doesn't even come close in my opinion, and doesn't even reach the best parts of the series. I personally hate CG characters, even if it's """well-done""" in HnK as many claim. If you do read it, make sure to start from the beginning.
It's a very character-driven story. Many characters undergo extremely drastic and irreversible changes as the story goes on, which is an aspect that I imagine many fans really appreciate judging by how many reacted to certain chapters.
The story comes to an interesting conclusion, and it certainly doesn't go nowhere like you might think from watching the anime. The themes in the story are pretty abstract, and the ending definitely retains that aspect.
