>Before requesting, here are some tips:
– Only request an image once per thread. Bumping your own request won't help either.
– All requests are welcome, within reason, but remember:

I feel like the lines you have on the inside of the cape to mark the wrinkles look a bit sloppy; I know you didn't have a whole lot to work with from the source, but I would have treated them as linework from a 'real' vector. Meaning use fewer nodes and pay attention to the line of action from the base to the point, specifically for the left (her right) one, that crease should be a clean line to the tip of the cape below her wand, according to the line art. It might also be worth trying to add more of them, because just the two you have makes it feel a bit sparse.

Also, instead of making her torso grey (I expect because you didn't want it to blend into her arm) you could keep it white and use a colored line along her breast to mark the separation like you did at the crease of her knee.

First of all, EXTRAORDINARY WORK. I'm really, really glad that you did it, you made my day.

Regarding details, the right nipple looks weird, but of course it's a problem with the source material (with such low resolution and limited palette it was a difficult task for the original artist to do a proper job regardless).
Otherwise I don't see any issue. There's one thing I'd like too ask, though, only if possible and if it doesn't take you a lot of time: would it be possible to make her skin color and her hair color like in the fanart I gave you as refference here? >>2253564
Due to the limited palette of 8 bit the artist didn't have a lot of colors to choose from, and her hair looks way too orange; also her skin is a little bit dark, and I think that artist from deviantart I linked chose a great color for it.

For the colors, I actually did pull some skin from the other image but I see now that the highlights were a step lighter which shifted the whole palette darker. I forgot about the hair completely and just pulled from the source originally. New colors below.

I also did slightly renipple the right (side, her left) nip in this one. The shapes were a bit vague.

These are lovely, although the mitering on the lineart for Rally's hair and highlights is a bit jarring. I see a few on Minnie's as well but where fills are used it looks quite nice.

There's nothing wrong with using lines for some things, IMO, as long as you're aware of its limitations and are willing to convert it to a fill to tweak as needed.

Here's a little example of the mitering I was talking about. The third is stroke-to-path from the flat miter, then the centerpoint of the flat area used as the point and nodes pulled back to taper smoothly.

I changed the hair colour and a few details, i think the result looks better for it. The shading is a bit all over the place; maybe i should have skipped all the small strains in the hair, but without them it looks a bit boring.

Hopefully you guys can help me, I'm losing my fucking gourd trying to figure this out. I haven't vectored in a couple years and recently picked it back up. I'm trying to apply a simple gaussian blur to a color object on affinity designer. It went well, however it goes into the transparent background. I wasn't worried about it that much because, in the past, I was able to export the final project as a PNG or JPG and exclude anything not included inside the lines. The problem I'm running into is, I can't remember for the life of me how to exclude the excess blur from my final export. I've looked all over online and so far I haven't found anything that has helped. I've tried importing the .svg into inkscape because I remember it having that feature as well, but since it's been so long I can't figure it out. Any body willing to help a fellow retard out with this?

Ah, I see I did miss some of the white there, my bad. I did it in a few stages. This should have that outline done properly plus the black outer trace (I couldn't tell if it was an artifact or intentional so I excluded it. For the L, do you just mean the part around the stem? Me again, took me some time, but I'm finally done with my 2B. I took some liberties here and there and went with a bit of a cleaner look, but all in all, I tried to stay true to the source.

This is the hottest character I have ever seen, and she's stuck in a seasonal isekai powerslop as the most minor classmate that still has a name. So, I vectored her. It's more than any of the other assholes in iseleve will get for god damn sure.

My artistic (technical?) query about this figure is that while I gmeshed the hair, I failed to gmesh the face. I couldn't come up with anything that looked as good as the anime frame itself, shown next post. The result is that the face looks flat compared to the hair, I think. For inspiration's sake, does anyone have a vector to share with a good gradient mesh on the face?

Was just looking through the thread, and seeing this not getting a response or even a thank(you) made me sad.

My amateurish critique: The linework is an adaptation of the artist's hand, which is hard to evaluate. If the artist is good, then so is the vector pretty much. One sentiment floating around vector threads is the idea of making sure that the vector, which is a ton of work, is a major upgrade in some way from the source image (?) -- this OR, a rough sketch of on-model characters acting and dressing out-of-context, is an absolutely ideal vector request. There is the possibility of making a more orthodox vector with smooth tapered lines and bare-minimum gradual nodes. This could be done with that sketch, and I would have probably tried to do it that way, but you did just fine in your method too. It just makes a different product.

The choice of colors, pattern fill, and bg look great to me. It is hard to make something that looks subdued when you have red, white, and blue, but there it is. The bags should probably have been colored. The white shirt is good.

I appreciate the critique. Full disclosure, about 30-40% of that was autotraced (the OR did say it didn't have to be complex or detailed, and I was experimenting with lowering the amount of manual labor to create vectors in general). I just went over glitchy or high-detail areas and refined them by hand then cut it apart and reorganized it.

That aside, philosophically, I prefer to reproduce linework (on anything but anime screenshots) as accurately as possible and would have done it the same way by hand anyways. My personal favorite from this thread is 2B here: >>2257344 for example since it really capture the hand-drawn look that vectors can sometimes detract from. I think the best thing about vectors is that they can provide infinite detail while emulating strokes and shapes of traditional or digital art when done right, and I always keep that in mind when doing the linework or coloring.

I think the color scheme was influenced by their KLK outfits except for the houndstooth pants, but I might have picked it at semi-random honestly. The bags were probably an oversight. Glad you liked it though!

Yeah, it's just called pattern along path in inkscape under path effects. You trace the pattern once and use it as the template. It doesn't handle tight corners well, but I use it for a ton of stuff. It might not be able to do the 2nd and 3rd from left in your image perfectly but any of the ones with distinct 'stamps' will work fine, since you can adjust the spacing too.

Just the auto-trace bitmap or whatever it's called in inkscape. I've used it a ton before and it's shockingly good if you know how to set it and how to clean up after it IMO.

That said I prefer to use it for fills just to save time fucking around trying to color in the lines, it's not suitable for lines very much finer than that image and works best on very low resolution images.

I'm on Linux and I use Inkscape. I've learnt Adobe Illustrator for work, but still like Inkscape more because Illustrator is a bloated, buggy mess imo.
Btw in most cases you don't convert the picture into a vector, but basically draw it completely new.

A friend of mine told me to check out the vector thread in wallpapers for something I needed done but I can't find a vectors thread in /wg/ just this, so I have some questions.

Firstly, is it only anime vectors in here or are other things allowed?

Secondly, is it only editing something for a vector or are there actual vector artists in here that are willing to draw up simpler vectors like logos and such?

Basically I'm trying to have a logo or crest design set up for multiple projects over different medias so it's hard to ask in the different otherwise related boards (such as /tg/ or /v/) since it covers many boards... and not many people do vector work in their drawthreads anyways. Plus I was told you guys were really decent here and I was less likely to incite a shitshow here lol.

That's a lot of work, and unless you have a mostly-settled logo that just needs refining, you are better off paying an actual professional. We do have some talented anons here, and one might be willing to get into all that, but I can't guarantee it.

Long version:

There are some truly great artists in here (and I consider myself at least decent), and we do actually care about vectoring properly - recreating the original art with genuine SVG vectors. And we care about it partly because we understand the true value of a good vector - art that can look just as good on a postage stamp as it does on the side of a skyscraper. So, if you are looking for talent, you've come to the right place.

For the most part, stuff in here tends to be anime, partly because the flat-shaded or limited-palette-shaded art from there is both much easier to do, and gives us the highest chance of making art that truly matches the original exactly. And, ultimately, even in those good source cases, a great vector can still take a month or more to finish. Stuff like >>2260737 that is realistic-shaded is phenomenally hard to pull off, and it is only the absolute most talented people in here that have a chance, AND, that's more like 6 months of work instead of one. That or outright photos tend to be ignored, because most anons here are doing this for fun in their spare time, and don't necessarily want to spend a year of weekends to finish a single realistic-shaded piece.

And, that is working from a given reference. Being able to do original art is a slightly different set of skills, and even with the talent we have, not all of us can manage that quite as well as the from-reference work. (I happen to be pretty good at filling the recreate requests in here, but am only an average artist for original works, for example - I'll admit it.)

Now, all of that being said, logos are both easier and harder to deal with. In terms of recreating existing art of a logo, that's some of the easiest stuff we do, and there is a decent amount of that in this thread, if you go through it. You also have a pretty high chance of one of our artists taking the logo recreation request in those cases, as not every request here gets fulfilled, in general.

And finally, since I can speak to this specifically as someone with an actual graphic design degree, original logo design from scratch is a LOT of conversation and work - mostly too heavy a process to handle in a thread like this. To do logo design properly, you have to start with a bunch of conversations of the goals of the owner-to-be, ideas on symbolism and metaphor, representative colors for the underlying company and product and people, and THEN put all that together into a bunch of variations of a logo, and more conversation on endless rounds of tweaking the thing in a hundred ways to find what "feels right". Ultimately, the requester needs to have some really good ideas of what they want, and the artist needs to have a good understanding of art AND psychology AND marketing AND general target industry standards, and only THEN can they find the intersection of all of that, which becomes the logo. This is the reason why logo design can be so expensive. In most cases a requester knows this is literally asking for an image to represent everything they are as a company or project, and understand it is worth the investment.

If you have something rough worked out already, and you are looking for the final refining and tweaking stage, I can see some artists here possibly being willing to help. But beyond that, it requires deep enough conversation that an exchange of contact info is necessary, and don't forget, 4chan is not known for that kind of connecting. We call each other anons for a reason. We like to keep it that way.

Ok, from that I feel like it might be worth asking in here then at least. I do have a design I'm mostly settled on that I kludged together using stuff I found in google and it's not for a professional branding or anything that I'm going to make money off of it's merely for character lore and stuff.

Picrel is what I have that I'd like refined. It's supposed to be an artsy lotus coming out of an open book with a full moon background. The character/clan is basically one that was banished for practicing and studying magic that was forbidden or heretical but they don't believe in heresy. Among the magics they practice are (within Elden Ring lore at least) black flame, glintstone, Carian sword sorceries, divine magic of the Two Fingers, fire giant pyromancy, dragon magic... they basically dabble in a bit of everything. The lotus represents life, the book knowledge, and the moon represents both revealing secrets and loyalty to the Carian family's princess Ranni despite everything. The crest doesn't have to be a 1-1 replication of picrel, but that's pretty close to what I have in mind basically. Within TTRPG lore the family will be pretty similar but certain things will be changed up due to variances within TTRPGs.

The word "mircast" comes from an old English word for "murk" following the trend of Elden Ring using old English for random crap and that's their "job" prior to being banished, they're more stealth swordmages in build for the most part, like magical assassins. I haven't come up with an actual name for the clan/family outside of Eden Ring yet though but within the mod I'm making and within Elden Ring lore they're just part of the Carian royal family.

Can some talented anon please make a clean vector version of this angel/circle thing in a transparent background? I need it for posters and printing, thank you for your time and effort.
