I've lived in Buckhead, not the cheapest place to live though.

Plus, best bet is just to stay away from Apelanta in general.

Georgia has good southern hospitality, that's the first thing people notice when they visit.

And stay away from Macon! Warner Robins isn't half bad, spent some time there during my Air Force days.

Given the soaring crime.... EHHHHH

But yeah lots of good areas. And I agree, Macon is a hellhole rofl. The same can be said of Columbus

Not sure how Buckhead is in 2023, haven't lived there in a long time. But it wouldn't surprise me, anything around Atlanta / Atlanta itself is not good or safe.

Best bet is Warner Robins and the immediate surrounding areas. Nice place that's still growing and is still relatively affordable.

Problem is, shit stains from Macon are moving down to the WR area and fucking up the place.

>worried that (bits of) Georgia is fast turning into yet another broken run-down leftist shithole like New York, Chicago, or Commiefornia

would be a shame if all of Georgia went that way, but that's what happens when clueless sheeple keep voting for leftists; use your brains people, don't vote for it and your state won't turn out that way, it's not complicated

>voting is broken

Until the leftists/globalists take control of everything then voting isn't completely broken, it just needs absolutely every conservative/right-wing voting person across the country to get off their fat lazy ass and actually vote, preferably as early as their county/state allows them to, rather than all of you waiting until the actual election day when you'll almost certainly get stymied by IRL personal events, work, and randomly broken voting machines/randomly closed voting centres.

That's part of why the left do so well, they might be voting for dangerously corrupt evil politicians hellbent on destroying the country, but they do still actually make every effort, whether legal or not, to actually get their vote registered; meanwhile right-wingers talk a good job and then assume there's enough right-wingers who'll vote that their own personal vote doesn't matter, well that's just loser thinking and very wrong, EVERY vote matters, so if you wanna stop Georgia turning into another New York/Cali/Illinois/Washington/Oregon then you and ALL your right-leaning friends and family need to get off your asses and VOTE, and vote as early as you possibly can.

And better yet, don't let all the leftists run the voting stations and counting centres like they normally do, instead get out there with as many friends and family as you can and volunteer to work those places yourself so the left don't have the opportunity to fuck about and break the system and steal your state out from under you from behind the scenes.

Alternatively, rather than being stuck with the same ol' two sides of the corrupt unaparty, consider standing for election in your district yourself on an actually traditional conservative set of policies rather than some fake RINO commie BS like you'll probably get from the republican party.

N.B. Not doing any of this means you're part of the problem.

IMO it's the best opportunity for me right now. Stuck in nowhere middle America. I want to eventually move to LA (if very rich) or just struggle out in ATL and enjoy the music scene til i shift cities and fall back on college.

What city would yall move to instead? I'm really there for the culture, but safety would be nice... I'd be up in GSU dorms at best. Austin & OKC would be my backups.

Taking a trip out there in november - seein lauryn hill & theo von along with the wider metro - wish me luck..! lowkey gonna need it. flying out so can't have a carry on me. prolly buy sumn once i land.

You're not wrong, but there's one bad thing about Georgia. You can't just build anything on your land, you have to get permits for any and everything. That's my biggest gripe, there should be more liberties when it comes to owning land in Georgia. For what I want, Alabama was the better option and the commute would have been the same.

Buckhead is still crime ridden, although I haven't heard about huge strings of car break-ins in a bit so the type of crime is likely changing again. Only time I even think about heading inside the perimeter is to visit the Benz for Atlanta United games but it's been a hot minute since I've been to one of those in person (mostly because the team has spent the last four years sucking dick and I'll be damned if I'm gonna spend an hour one way on marta just to watch us get beat at home). WR is still pretty ok, got a buddy who lives in south Georgia and I'll meet him in WR for lunch on occasion.

Atlanta rundown:

>picrel

Georgia rundown:

Columbus (Benning), Augusta (Gordon), Warner Robins (Robins), Valdosta (Moody) are only acceptable if you're military or have friends/family/dependents/a career in the .mil industrial complex. More power to you if you do, glad you have a place to be, but it means nothing to the rest of the population and no one cares.

Warner Robins got a Buc-ee's and thinks they're suddenly on some cosmopolitan shit. It's a small town with small town people who insist they're not small town, who's local social scene is just handful of shitty bars. If you tell them this they get butthurt but won't disagree with you. This sentiment goes double for Augusta.

Athens between Atlanta and Augusta or Savannah is just a college town. If college town things interest you, that's your safest bet.

I hope to retire in Savannah cosplaying Forest Gump one day.

Source: I grew up in the parts of Georgia that still had segregated proms in the mid-2000's, if you drive slow enough today will still hear banjos, but have since traveled to more than a dozen other countries and lived all over Georgia and the rest of the US in the last 20+ years. I'm never unhappy to come back to Atlanta and wish you the best.

"The voting machines are rigged"
"Okay, present your evidence of this please"

I helped set up part of the center for election services at a college in Kennesaw years ago, and from what I've head, their IT was and is a fucking joke. if there were evidence, no one would have known how to monitor or collect it. they thought the person who ran the heartbleed patch was a "hacker" lol.
they were running elections on little Dell GX520 Windows XP machines with no physical security, no VPN or firewalling, cases not locked, exposed USB ports, etc. the election servers basically never got patched or updated, and the kid who was hired to make sure things were turned on didn't know what half the equipment they had racked did. access was directly exposed to the internet because each of the 159 counties needs at least one person to manage their IT to send results but no one wants to travel and the counties didn't want to pay to staff, so it was a miracle it worked in the first place.

of course, that doesn't mean tampering definitely happened, just that there wasn't any meaningful offensive testing or auditing, so you can't assign confidence to them being secure. and no, having met many dedicated volunteers and election workers across the state, I wouldn't say any given process was the result of any intentional political sabotage. doing big stuff is hard, and doing it at the scale of a state without the knowledge, alignment, or resources needed is a major feat.

I do think that once it became an issue, the state's lawyers quickly figured out how much evidence there was and of what and built their defense around that. everything gets wiped after the results are sent, so there wouldn't have been much outside of what the FBI got copies of.
