I need some good y2k wallpapers. I'll start off with.
I have several vintage Y2K wallpapers I've been meaning to upscale/expand to HD but here's one I just found.
>>8087959i dont mean to be a dick or pushy or anything but can you post the other y2k wallpapers you have, but upscaled? bc this one is alr so cool and beautiful
>>8087960This one is more or less done. Expanded to widescreen with Photoshop AI. I'll try to drop a couple more next week if the thread's still up. I have another one I was about to post but I can't help but feel it needs a little more work.
>>8088011One of my favourites. But fuck that watermark.

this site has a bunch of talented artists that specialize in this aesthetic
>>8090048Wow, great find anon!
>>8090048Warez shit.
I have no clue how you people find this kind of websites.
It's a shame there is no option to pirate some of the stuff from this website.
>>8090105pretty sure its all free to download?
killing off this shit aesthetic was the one and only good thing that came out of 9/11.

>>8087431 (OP)Thanks everyone for keeping this thread alive. I wish some of these were on wallpaper engine.
>>8091826I got several I'm gonna dump next week. Just doing touch-ups on them.
>>8091826you can add them simply by dragging the files on the bottom of the window.
Maybe try making your own?
>>8087959What upscaler do you use? I've tried AI upscalers but they all output a sort of smeared watercolor look that I hate.
>>8092108Metalheart is underatted.
>>8091825is there a version of this but without the cartoon pornography?
>>8087964Edited the spheres on the bottom corners to reduce the lens warp.
I'm almost certain I'll be updating this one in the future.
I was apprehensive about expanding this one to 16:9 so you'll have to crop it or expand it yourself. Sorry.
Note: I don't know the actual title for many of these papes.
This one was made by 'J Bois' in 2004. That is all I know.
The quality is a bit spotty with some of these edits so if I ever get around to updating them, I'll post them here:

>>8092110Sorry if I gave the impression that that was an unscale. It's just an image I found off the web. I mostly use Gigapixel AI, and on occasion, CupScale. But I don't know of any upscalers that can really produce HiRes upscales that truly have immaculate or photorealistic quality. We need AI that can recognize what it's looking at and actually 'imagine' what that image would look like at HiRes by creatively inputting missing details in a blown up image. Programs like Gigapixel can sort of do that with faces to a limited extent but little else. For better or worse, we're still very much neck-deep in the era of AI slop. Not so different from what life was like a century ago when people were first wrestling with the advent of airplanes and moving pictures.
All of this is part of the reason I'm not interested in super HD displays. There's a real issue of diminishing returns with upscaling. You can make a vintage wallpaper look passable on a 1920p display but it would be a lot harder to make it look decent at 4K. And by the time AI can do that, we might be done with traditional desktops anyways. Who knows.
Can someone help me? I've been looking for a wallpaper I had that's very similar to this. It's got some large, clear crystals in the foreground, a large pale blue or white field, and maybe a volcano or something orange like fire. Sorry if that's too vague. It looked fucking clean and powerful. I miss it.
A curiously large image for a wallpaper from 2001. It was uploaded by mistake on the website. Makes you wonder what other vintage wallpapers are available in HiRes on someone's hard drive somewhere.
>>8092291can you post the non-upscaled/edited ones as well? i've been looking for stuff to use on my old computers.
>>8092548I uploaded them to a folder since I didn't feel like posting them.

>>8087431 (OP)Y2K and Frutiger Aero are amazing Aesthetic.
>>8093101Xenoblade Chronicles X has a similar Aesthetic. I would recommend playing it. It's futuristic but very cool. Definitive Edition is coming out in two months.
More please, I have a DIRE NEED for this aesthetic.
are there games with this aesthetic?
>>8095511Broken Reality kinda...
>>8095511The old Sonic games have this aesthetic in the special stages. Would be cool if it translated into the actual stages but I guess that's part of the schtick is that they're "special stages".
Is this good enough? i tried to restore a very fucked source and add some noise to hide the uncanney valley artifacts.
Is this too blurry? I'm trying to get the hang out of resampling.

>>8096412Yeah i revisited this edit later and realized i didn't like it. Here is the original picture, maybe someone else can make it work better. I still have a lot to learn.
>>8092287No hate, but what even is the point of upscaling the image if you can tell where the ai starts and the og image ends? I don't know if I'm just picky but a uniform pattern turning to slop ruins the pape for me personally.
>>8095511Hypnospace Outlaw
Does this count?
>>8096646I'm blind, i can't spot the ugly part.
>>8096910These early 3D renders of castles are max comfy. We can never go back.
>>8088011Thumbnail looked like the Jedi Council chambers.
>>80966461. They're just desktop wallpapers. If they look halfway decent on a surface level then I consider them passable as wallpapers. I have plenty of flawed stuff made by others and I can live with them. If you're anal about the technical flaws of AI generation then these are not for you. You're just gonna have to wait a while for them to be updated (or request someone on the /wg/ modification threads to do it).
2. AI slop is not huge deal since AI is at least competent enough to do 99% of the hard work involved with image generation. There is obviously room for improvement with these, I acknowledged as much in my previous post. I don't like the idea of waiting months or years to perfect something like a wallpaper before releasing it (again, they're just wallpapers). I welcome people to post flawed material. It's good to just get stuff out there. Seeing a vintage wallpaper expanded to 16/9 ratio might prompt someone to update it. I have updated other people's edits too. Not a big deal. I'm not the least bit bothered by AI slop since I know I can always fix it. And if the mood to update something finally strikes me I do just that. I recently updated an AI-expanded liminal space pape I did months back. Feels good.
3. Anon requested that I post them so I did. They were made on the spot. So flaws are to be expected.

>>8098536No, because it looks like poorly AI upscaled garbage. It would otherwise count.
Found this one here http://imaputz.com/
I recommend Wiby for searching old websites
these next ones I found them at https://aminet.net/pix/back
there are other pix categories if you're curious. It's kinda tedious checking the images, it's easier if you use the extension Imagus
>>8099354sorry for the weird resolutions, they came like that
this one had a small height so I made this, the spaces are transparent
another one I had to resize, in case you want the originals these 3d renders are in https://aminet.net/pix/addic

Yandex also helps a lot finding similar pics
