If I had to guess, the gradient was probably made first, and then a texture was placed over it, and then the girl was pasted over that, all as three separate layers.

i made the original edit, i'm not really proud of it. too much contrast, ends up looking too bright and weird. also, i sort of feel the girl's location is not good at all. i'll try to describe the making of it to the best of my memory

bottom layer: gradient
layer 2: red circle pattern (opacity 5-10%)
layer 3: red cross pattern (opacity 5-10%)
top layer: vampire girl

i may try a more sophisticated approach next time
