I always wonder if we were robbed from a prosperous future or if it was all bullshit to begin with and we were lied to from the start my neoliberals to push their idea of "liberal democracy". seeing all the social and political events of the late 20th century like the Civil Rights Act, Hart-Cellar Act, abolition of the gold standard, no fault divorce, increased degeneracy, lowering birthrates etc. really makes me question the "End of History" and whether it really was a good outcome for society. and let's not forget all the modern tech that degenerated society that would've happened regardless of 9/11, like the smartphones, social media and AI. and even the "good" economy of the 90s was fake and not bound to last since America's REAL economy ended in 1971.

Seeing the towers really gets me emotional. My naive side wants to go back, but my more rational side wants to completely move past all myths and ideas of the 20th century since they've brought nothing but harm society.

I think 9/11 helped snap us out of this boomer truth hypnosis and lead us to a path that helped us see that this meaningless dead consumerist soulless world was just not sustainable. without it we probably would've been a slower decay of society (which is actually worse since it means less people would notice the decline become redpilled) and more "last men" being created.

i dont know if you can blame neoliberals totally. we were a consumerist society, and still for the most part are. I think the towers were the pinnacle of the post-ww2/Age of America. Now when i say Age of America i dont mean the west i mean only and only the USA. Europe in many way still has not recovered from WW2, look at the cult of self-hatred in Germany today and the equal rise of far-right empty brains, both of which are bad in my opinion.

i agree with you that we had some "ideal world" i look back and at the nostalgia of the time we were insulated, things still felt far away. The thing we lost most is common sense. simple common sense. society in the US is suffering because of this rise in stupidity on all sides and a lack of acknowledgement of what is wrong with them.

Now we live in an age of depression, not necessarily economic, but one where people born from 1980-2000 have nothing to look forward too. Will we have retirement? Will we own our own homes? hell can we even rent now? There is a lack of natural fulfillment in our society as well but that goes with the rise of degeneracy. Our World is burning down around us and i dont know if we can hope for the future.

what 9/11 did was as you said break us out of the hypnosis and break the mask.
