Planning to replace the desk top with something more interesting after paying a visit to /diy/ for some tips on staining/preserving a nice piece of wood. This board is just some trash laying around. To be fair almost everything here is salvaged from a curb.

Fucking nailed it. They're in poor health and I'm the only one in the family that gives enough of a shit to take care of them. I'd be surprised if they made it another couple years. Rent is helping out around the place and I pay for my own food and portion of utilities, so it's not like I'm freeloading. It's a bitchless existence though.

Anyway I just bought one of these off of craigslist, a genuine 1972 Army portable field desk. It's gonna be a project to get it cleaned up, repainted and sealed (tested positive for lead paint kek) but it's gonna be sick.

Aye bro I feel you there. Personally I was living in a unit above my dad's garage when I took the pic that I posted. Big respects for being there for your elders though, that kind of deed might leave you bitchless, but it's the kind of thing a woman appreciates. That desk is swagged out, good luck on it, bro. Reminds me that I need to hit up FB market place for some shelves and give myself something to work on. All the best to you!

Dell MR2416.
1920*1200, like 110% sRGB, full dicom preset coverage, glass face with a glossy anti glare coating, and able to be cleaned with up to 70% isopropyl. It's only 60hz, and it's true refresh time is 16.9ms with full transition being almost 35ms. It's a very slow panel, with lots of ghosting, but I like the colour profile and glass screen. I don't really play games much so it doesn't bother me.

Current setup is this, but with the tower now on a tall wireframe rack. Spacemaxxing in an apartment with a new baby. I also have a 19" portrait mode monitor to the left of the main monitor. main is a 32" 16:10 2560x1440 which is just plain lovely for productivity, and I do a lot of PCB design so it works out better than a typical widescreen. Plus- it was free from the e-waste at work.

I'm no audiophile, but people describe them as 'warm and fun' and I very much agree. My headphones are for people who work with audio (I don't) so they sound pretty bland, I like them for movies.

Everything is getting rooted by spider mites at the moment tho I don't even know where the little cunts came from. I discovered arthropods in general HATE this nonionic surfactant cleaner that costs 1 euro 30 at lidl. Slays flies faster than flyspray and same for the mites. I like that! Especially because you're using an iPad with external monitor as your battle station like a real personal computer! I don't see that often these days. Unfortunately it's often frowned upon...

Awesome!

Good catch, Anon! I actually do use an 11in M1 iPad Pro as my daily driver. I found that it can do 95% of what I want to on a daily basis.
The only things it can’t do well on its own are PC gaming, obviously, and programming.
Fortunately, I’m something of a homelabber and have a server that I can offload those tasks onto as the backend while still using my iPad as the frontend.
For programming, I use VS Code Server hosted on my lab and accessed via Safari on my iPad.
For gaming I have a Windows 11 VM that streams via Sunshine/Moonlight to my iPad at its native resolution, 120fps, and zero discernible compression or latency. I have an MMO mouse I plug into the iPad alongside ethernet to play FFXIV that way.
As a dedicated iPad power user, there’s nothing you can’t do.
It’s all very cool! Thanks for taking an interest :)

Thanks, Anon! :)

That's a fine setup with the server in the backend.
Today everything is possible with remote tools!

Wow! So the w11 vm is on the server then?
Never tried sunshine/moolight before...
I think I should give it a try :)
Yes, it is all very cool, indeed!

Thank you, Anon!

Great solution!

My desktop is currently unplugged, I'm awaiting a DisplayPort to VGA adaptor to connect my desktop to my CRT. Then the for the PlayStation I move the CRT over and bring out my 1080p monitor with a HDMI port. I'm thinking of doing something to make it more convenient with the PlayStation, but I'm not quite sure what exactly yet.

I do not really see too much of a point on posting on /g/ much anymore, it's mostly consumer electronics general at this point with superficial benefits and detractors rather than in depth or knowledgeable insights or discussion. IE: Brand Z bad, buy Brand Y, often lacking any nuance about the products. Now its 10 phone threads, corporate drama, etc. Just whats the point?

I moved over to posting my terrible nudes on /b/, talking car shit on /o/, and if I feel like I am in a really masochistic mood heading on over to /tttt/. I officially "came out" and stopped hiding behind being intersex, shocking absolutely no one. My work schedule become stressed because we area approaching the end of the fiscal year for funding, and my social life is packed literally every weekend. Most of my idle time here is when I am stuck in meetings at work or if its late at night when my partner is playing COD or whatever with his friends and yelling at the TV.
