No it wasn't. it was too dark, can't see shit fest.
It had boring unknown and unlikeable actors in most of the roles especially the lead. This makes most of the action lack stakes or story.
They had Breaking bad boomer, but kill him off 20 minutes in.
I would rather watch Godzilla 98 than 2014

i genuinely think a strong 80% of it is based on good scripts. If you have good acting, well written characters, and decent special effects, then word of mouth goes a LONG way. Hollywood, for whatever fucking reason, seems to believe that if The Lord of the Rings came out today, it would flop. It would probably make even more money after being adjusted for inflation. People love good writing, Simple as.

Seeing these cloverleaf clips show what Godzilla 2014 was going for.
But cloverleaf built up the characters a little so we cared about them and their journey.
That helped make these street level perspectives better than 2014.
Also even though it's night, you can see what is going on and the city.
It's not like 2014 where 90 percent of the frame is filled with darkness.
Gee, how artistic

It's easy to call 2014 good when you're looking at the few 30 second clips of action from the movie and filtering out the two hours of boring dialogue. There's maybe ten minutes' worth of a decent kaiju movie in there but the vast majority of it is just John Doe: Army Guy wandering around and occasionally talking to people. Godzilla v Kong being a bad movie doesn't automatically make 2014 a good movie.
Anonymous No.5840529 [Report] >>5845056
>>5840433
But Anon, according to Hollywood The Lord of the Rings DID flop.
I'm not kidding. Those budget numbers are made up to purposely be "unprofitable". Directors, actors, writers, et al. sign contracts promising them X% of the profits of a film as motivation to do a good job and make the movie a success. So what happens when the movie is a success? The accountants claim that when they total up everything the company spent while the movie was being made the revenue actually didn't exceed the cost, so the company keeps the money the film made instead of distributing it to the creatives. Like 20 people including Peter Jackson had to sue New Line to get paid for The Lord of the Rings a couple years after it released. Marvel movies don't actually cost hundreds of millions to make, Disney just "spends" that money on all kinds of services (likely that feed right back into them) during production so they can claim there weren't any profits from the box office.

Cry, only the old dvd release was unwatchably dark, the 4k release with a good tv is perfectly clear even in the dark scenes. You're looking at a pixelated webm and imagining the whole movie. It's ok to hide imperfect CGI behind night and rain and debris.
But even if it was boring to you, it WAS grounded and down to earth compared to what the series became. Godzilla Vs Kong has lots of neon lights to keep the monsters lit, but everything else about it was Marvel slop.

From what I've heard apparently the way a lot of editing is done on modern films really REALLY fucks it up for a lot of dark scenes because the screens used for that process are notably brighter. Everyone forgets "Oh yeah... most TV screens and monitors aren't even 1/4th this bright" and it doesn't get properly adjusted for that. As a result it ends up hitting the small screen looking like barely discernible dark blobs and may not even show properly on theater screens if it's bad enough. It's especially bad with older TVs where the detail is just flat lost to the blobs entirely.

The whole "too dark" thing is because of the home media release (which the 4K has since corrected). Also every single main character is and was at the time a well known actor.

The serious movies are actually the outlier in the Godzilla franchise. Godzilla fought King Kong in his third theatrical appearance. The franchise had fairies by the forth entry and aliens by the fifth and sixth entries. Godzilla has always been silly.
Hell even the more serious reboot in the Heisei era had telepaths in the first entry, ghosts in the second, and time travel in the third. Godzilla works best when it's being over-the-top.

I wouldn't be surprised if it would. Very loud sounds can cause physical damage to people, but the energy transfer isn't too great in air since it's way less dense than water.
I know lightning striking nearby and the resulting thunder can cause internal organ damage though, even if the source of the sound is still a few hundred feet up in the air in Godzilla's case it should cause some damage at least to anyone nearby. Now that you mention it, how many of the movies have showcased windows shattering from any of the monsters' roars?
As an aside the only "source" I can see on listed noise for his roar is "174dB", but that seems weird that he'd make quieter sounds than blue whales which are way smaller in those films. Gotta be some bogus made up number, and if that's "official" that seems even more ridiculous, on par with the "T-Rexes have bad vision, don't move!" shit from JP.

it was alright. I liked it when i saw it in theaters. It's so funny to think that the recent Legendary Godzilla movies are even supposed to take place in the same universe. Lol. They simply don't in my eyes.

Does anyone have this clipped from Godzilla reaching his hand out to the thumbs up? I saw it once but never saved it and could never find it anywhere else.

Should've attacked its weak point. Surprised this is from 2015, the stop-motion made me think it's authentically retro

>Tokyo Sky Needle
It's literally called the "Tokyo Sky Tree" / "Tōkyō Sukaitsurī". How could they call it a needle when it's clearly a tsuri (building)?

this version of War of the Worlds scared the dogshit out of me as a kid, and the basketball hoops on our school playground sounded exactly like the Tripod noise if you hit the backboard too hard. I use to tense up and look all around the playground for giant robots every time someone was playing Horse

Tbf he is meant to be close to the original Goji, who's meant to equal or be a little above the Tokyo Radio Tower (then the largest structure in Japan). We've just gotten so accustomed to huge Godzilla

>THIRTY-EIGHT (38) Slopzilla movies made over the course of SEVENTY (70) years
>Many different directors, and studios
>Every single one has been shit
>They still continue to shit them out to this day
Why? If it were possible to make a good Slopzilla flick it would have happened by now. Even if they've been making them shit on purpose. After doing it THIRTY-EIGHT (38) times they would've accidently made a good one by now. As insufferably awful as capeshit is. At least they haven't been at it for SEVENTY (70) years.
