Pretty much, yeah. A fire can move 100mph depending on the circumstances.
Fun fact: Fires like that burn so hot and so quick that the trees burn down to the roots, leaving massive pockets of empty space where the roots used to be. But the fires under the ground keep burning for months and the ground maintains its shape.
What this means is that if a hiker is going through an area that had a forest fire in the last few months, they can fall into a burning kiln made of dirt without ever knowing about it.
