>>5902571I miss it too. I saw an interesting theory about why old xbox 360 gaming featured a lot of lobby chat. It's because the consoles typically came with mics when they were purchased, so it was natural to plug it into your controller. When I got my 360 in 2009 it was refurbished and even then it came with the old school mic. And even before then on PS2, I remember plugging my computer headset into the playstation and hearing people talking shit on COD 2 and Madden 06. Now everyone just chats with their friends in discord.
Around 2012 or so Microsoft started handing out bans like candy. Remember before then, there was that cheat code where if you wanted to rename your gamertag for free, you could have 3 friends report you and Xbox would force you to rename. Shit like that became the standard, and rather than renaming you, you received communications and even permabans after too many reports.
Now it's even worse with the AI detection. I was playing Black ops 6 over christmas break and called someone a faggot in game chat, and once the game ended there was an alert that I was banned for 24 hours from the automatic voice detection shit.
