My method of splicing videos together is to add then as additional video tracks using mkvtoolnix, audacity and handbrake.

You basically just drag and drop one file into the mkvtoolnix window.
Then do the same for another and pick "append to an existing source file".
Check to only use the video tracks. The mkv output will be a lossless splice.

Extract the audio tracks using mkvtoolnix.
Throw them into them into audacity. Do whatever audio magic you need to do to make them sound good and export as a single audio track as a lossless file.

Then use mkvtoolnix to merge the two as a single mkv file with video and audio. Take that file as run it through whatever video encoder you prefer like ffmpeg or handbrake.
