one thing that's weird about character acting, assuming a lot of the director's in Tokusatsu work in a similar way to anime director's, storyboards in anime are left vague so animator's can interpret it and have room to express it in their own style, but in live action it's more akin to how western animation does storyboards, very strict and regimented leaving almost no room for animators to act out their vision. I just wonder why it's like exactly opposite, character acting and storyboarding specifically

My guess is most of them are pros at body language conveyance, and there's also only so much you can demand when they're wearing some of the bulkier suits for closer up shots. Probably easier to trust the suit actors than demanding perfection, cause I know half the reason Kiva got his upgrade so soon in the story was that the original suit was too heavy.

Imagine my sadness when I realized that one of these amazing shows was being broadcast here in the US - that instead of keeping the cast as it is, that is, Japanese, they would use the footage and dub over it.

Now, the worst part: they'd edit out the heroes when they were without the mask, introduce Americans, and act out the SHITTIEST scenes.

And so we have "Power Rangers". The best part of which were the Japanese parts. I couldn't stand the American actors.

...except the green/white ranger. He was okay.
