Yes, she was his right hand man so to speak, and the main person involved in recruting new people. Yes, you have struck on something very obvious that has seemingly eluded people. I think they may have tried to off some girls and witnesses. I remember years ago reading one of the testimonies of someone (maybe Katie Johnson) and they threatened to make her disappear like they made "Maria" disappear.
