Why no zoomer music vids with hot girls?
I mean as long as the music's not soulless, the lyrics woke, or the girls fat-assed and twerking.
Ok, I see your point.

Zoomers you don't know how grim us millenials had it, this bitch was the only thing we had to jerk off to apart from lingerie catalogues. We didn't have stable broadband yet and downloading even one jpg of a naked bitch took like 15 minutes on dial-up.

>and downloading even one jpg of a naked bitch took like 15 minutes on dial-up.
if you're talking 56k modem that's quite an exaggeration, even if we go back to 14.4k days.
unless you don't mean jpg.
if you meant bitmaps that retards would format their images in then yeah, those were a fucker to download.

but it also sounds like you didn't have the contacts if all you had was lingerie mags.
there were plenty of grot mags in the UK (razzle etc - you got to see tits and vaginas and housewives arseholes) in the mid 90's but hardcore was still illegal back then (good).
we also had stuff aimed at teenage lads like fhm, loaded, maxim etc that weren't age-gated. like with christina aguileras maxim photoshoot in the pool. hnnng

can't say old britters ever did anything for me except in that first video where she's at school but i didn't wank to it, there was plenty of proper porn elsewhere. also that video came out in '98 and there were loads of TGP sites ('member them?) before that point so again, you're very much exaggerating the plight of us old men. and i didn't get off 56k until '04.
no offence, just being pedantic.

>replacing ultra compressed music with another ultra compressed format
If your music collection isn't 100% lossless (and 24/96 whenever it exists) in 2025 when hard drive space costs $10 per TB, you're a fucking retard.

Well forgive me for sensationalizing things slightly for the broccoli haired cunts, but also I was 11 in '98, so I was too young to get my hands on any magazines or tapes, and too ignorant to find any good sites in the limited online time I could get. I think I got on broadband in '03 or '04, of course by then things were very different, lol.

I had 1mbps cable internet in 1998. My dad jumped on getting broadband the moment it first became available in our neighborhood. Going from 33k dialup to 1mbps always-on cable internet was life changing. And this was before the internet was riddled with ads and trackers everywhere, so every website loaded instantly, like in <50ms. Doing anything on the internet today feels 10x slower than it did in the late 90s.

he means bmps, which were the go-to for high quality scans. jpgs in the 90s weren't the same as jpgs from today; lower res, shittier compression. a 1MB scan on a 28.8k would be a 5 minute download.

>>5940440
Man that must have been nice dabbing on dialup shitters in multiplayer games. You probably saved weeks of your life not waiting for sites to load too.

heh yeah 300 ping was pretty standard (e.g. in TFC) on a 56k and that was connecting from within the UK to other UK servers.
i expect this terminology has disappearead completely (i don't play mp games anymore) but we used to have LPBs and HPBs - low ping bastards and high ping bastards.

and i know bitmaps are lossless but the jpeg compression was fine if you did it properly. i had a legitimate copy of photoshop 5.5 (?) which had a simple save for web feature where you could tweak the compression and get the sensible filesize to quality ratio you wanted so you could post it on forums or make your website graphics etc. lol imagine webdevs using bmp for site graphics... just no.
that might have been late-ish 90's by that point, hazy memory sometimes. actually it must have been at least '98 because i was running windows '98 se (best OS).

When it came to pr0n, those Jo Guest scans HAD to be bmp. jpg was just fine for non-connoisseurs, especially for galleries and collections. I completely forgot about LPB/HPB. It disappeared years ago when everyone became LPB and HPB were autokicked.

Webpages are garbage now because they're bloated with garbage. 50kb pages with a few jpgs and HTML links were replaced with 10MB pages loaded with java and css and whatever else. It's not bad with a good computer, but poor laptop users on battery have it bad. If you want a taste of the good ol days, here you go: https://geocities.restorativland.org/

yeah i thought it was going to be something as simple and boring as that.
easy to tell if a site is dogshit, i just check my scriptblocker (it doesn't allow anything until i approve it) and see a list of 20+ scripts linking to all sorts of stupid shit so i leave.

man, optimisation is truly a lost art. like with modern games, there's absolutely no reason for them to be 100+ gigs when they don't even look that much better than crysis.
but more vertices and polygons = bettar right? modern modellers are fucking lazy casuals. same with the texture artists and the people who dont know how to use the engine they're working with optimally.
or it's a big conspiracy to sell more powerful graphics cards that can handle the sheer unfathomable and unneccesary amount of bloat.
hmm, maybe a mix of it all. tldr: incompetence on all levels

Bad quality compression that even 45-year-old ears can tell is bad vs. acceptable quality compression for someone with 45-year-old ears.

Hey! The song is called "Future Vanishes" by Rose Elinor Dougall.
It's actually the title track of her EP "Future Vanishes", which came out back in 2013.

You can find the full EP details here on Discogs, in case you're curious about the other tracks or the release itself: https://www.discogs.com/master/655902-Rose-Elinor-Dougall-Future-Vanishes

Unfortunately, the official music video for "Future Vanishes" was taken down from YouTube about two years ago. BUT I managed to dig it up on archive.org!

Here's the archived version:
https://web.archive.org/web/20210606135045/https://www.thisismyjam.com/song/rose-elinor-dougall/future-vanishes?with=781w9zf

Also, the song I'm posting with this reply is called "Strange Warnings" it's another track from the same EP and honestly, it's a banger too.

Greetings

I can't remember the name of the song but it was from 2004 and it was on youtube in 2005 and I believe it was a Norwegian or Danish maybe Swedish singer with blonde hair and it was a very blue music video but it kills me I can't remember it. Sorry if request bother you

The first song I posted is called "What Else Is There?" by RΓΆyksopp. It actually fits your description pretty well. The video features the Norwegian blonde model Marianne SchrΓΆder, who appears to be singing, but the vocals are actually by Karin Dreijer from The Knife. The music video came out on YouTube in 2005 and has a very blue-toned color palette. The track is also super catchy, which is probably why it stuck in your head.

If that's not the one, maybe it's this other song I'm linking here. This one is by the Swedish singer Robyn and is called "With Every Heartbeat". She's also blonde, and the video has that same predominantly blue vibe. The only thing is the timing doesn't quite match -the official YouTube release was in 2007. But hey, memories are tricky like that, right?

If you could give a few more details about the song you're thinking of, it would make tracking it down way easier. Was it a mainstream pop hit or something more alternative? If it wasn't pop, what genre was it? What else do you remember from the video? How did the song feel or what mood did it have? Any extra clues would really help.
Anonymous No.5954092
>>5952218
it's neither of those and yeah I'm pretty sure it was pop, the thing is I heard it in a grocery store in the US but remember tacking it down on youtube a long ass time ago and should've saved it to my likes. Maybe it was UK or Iceland even, for some reason my mind thinks the singer is Alice but I don't recall that being the moniker. Sorry I can't be of more help.
