How is this so hard to understand?
How would ANYONE, let alone a professional fighter not have the instinct to simply stop doing what he's doing, so his head doesn't get bashed against the floor?

This is incredibly mind boggling to me. I've seen this several times in repeat and I can't figure a reason for him to keep holding his legs - that are otherwise free - to his opponent, knowing that it means sacrificing his cervical spine and skull.

How would he get his legs out though? Like as soon as he got picked up, I don't think either of his legs could go sideways and around the shoulders/arms to reach the floor, since the arms were both extended up and forward from the shoulders to do the slam. The only other way out I can think of is to shift your weight to your arms and try to slip your legs out by going down the other guy's chest; hope you got some hip mobility if you want to do that quickly.

Grabbing a leg so the other guy can't stand up would work, but trying to drop the triangle mid-slam seems like something you couldn't do in the time you have available. So maybe the recommended counter is just to stiffen your neck and try to keep your head from hitting but he failed at it?

>How would he get his legs out though?
By unhooking his legs.

>I don't think either of his legs could go sideways and around the shoulders/arms to reach the floor, since the arms were both extended up and forward from the shoulders to do the slam
The slammer's arms aren't doing the heavy lifting. In fact, watch the slammer's arms and see how they're barely lifting at all. The slammer is able to posture and basically deadlift the triangler, which is only possible because the triangler's legs are placing his weight around the guy's back. If the triangler unhooks his legs, there's nothing keeping his weight there for the slammer to lift and he'll just fall down.

Now here's Rampage Jackson again, this time fighting Forest Griffin for the UFC title.

>Forrest has a triangle on Rampage
>Rampage picks him up to slam

Forrest loses the submission, but doesn't get heemed.

Raja (the black guy, who was recently concussed during sparring and is one of Rampage Jackson's 20 sons) was at an indie wrestling event and Syko Stu (the victim) thought he was part of the show and smashed a soda can on Raja's head backstage before the show. Raja, rightfully, was pissed about it, especially since he isn't supposed to take any head shots while recovering. Syko Stu realized he made a mistake and gave a genuine apology, which was ACCEPTED by Raja.
Later, during the show, Raja was told he would go into the ring and do a spot on Syko Stu to give him a "receipt" (basically a stiff shot to make up for earlier). Raja instead went full retard and tried to kill the guy after the slam knocked him out and punched an unconscious man over 20+ times full force, all streamed live on Raja's Kick stream.
Basically, Raja's ego was hurt and he was "tired of motherfuckers playing with me".

The moment the chink left the ground it was over, any defense he could have done should be done beforehand, the nigger was holding his arms so he couldn't do much about it. Even opening his legs wouldn't save him, because his hips are so low to the opponent's body he would still have a grip on him.

That's the problem with overly traditional jiu-jitsu. There are positions you really, really shouldn't use in MMA. Most jiu-jitsu guys refuse to acknowledge this though, there's absolutely no martial art that can be used in it's purity in MMA, everything have to be adapted in some way

but she still didn't put enough "whip" into it; it should be like a circular heel kick - you go in semi-flexed and release the full extension whose momentum will be transfered into circular motion.

If you can whip it, it's a hell of an impact.

training since they were young. find a good, solid tree, and start kicking it over and over, hard. not so hard you snap your legs, but hard enough to hurt. do this repeatedly, all day for as long as you can. then rest for a week and do it again. what you're doing is causing hairline fractures in your bones, then allowing them to heal before fracturing them again. this both hardens and strengthens the bone over time, making it more resistant to future fractures. make sure to take lots of protein, calcium, and magnesium to support bone growth.

I'm wondering the same... why not let a tank style exist? If it fails it'll drop out of meta.

It's not actually shin to shin though the muay thai pros have pinpoint accuracy and specialize in distractions to avoid being checked plus turning their shins into concrete as per other replies.
What I don't get is the guys that eat full power kicks to the brain repeatedly like surely you are borderline retarded after just a few of those and these Thai guys do full contact sparring everyday their whole lives

Thais tend to spar light in general and only do hard sparring on occasion. The benefits of full contact sparring isn't as important when you're literally fighting every week. Regardless, they usually retire much earlier on account of starting way earlier and fighting so often.

It's a matter of intent.

Intentionally striking to the back of the head is a foul. Let's say you throw a punch at somebody's face and they turn around, so it lands at the back of their head, that's an accident. You were doing something legal that only became illegal through no fault of your own. No foul.

Same thing with slams. Most slams land someone on their back. But if they don't break their fall (because they're holding onto a submission) and they hit the back of their head, that's their fault, not yours.

I didn't catch the lead up to this fight, was Ankalaev talking shit before?
If he wasn't, then I don't like the taunting from Poatan, he is usually more stoic and humble.
It made sense for Jamahal Hill because he was running his mouth, so if Ankalaev was doing the same then he deserved it.

>was Ankalaev talking shit before?
yeah you can go on x or tt to find about it or also YouTube vids talking about the beef or whatever. even poatan posted an AI video of ankalaev with a tire as he was laying tko on the ground on his yt channel because ankalaev made fun of him because he used to work in tire shop as a mechanic or something when he was poor in Brazil etc etc

No, not exactly. Ankalaevs manager, Ali abdelaziz, is notorious for running his clients social media accounts and posting scummy shit to drum up hype for fights. Ank has never said anything nasty about Alex in person afaik, but Ali has said some really fucked up stuff about him being a recovering alcoholic and working in a tire shop for pennies when he was coming up. Alex also got nothing done at all in the first fight and had something to prove here. Alex took it personally and taunted him the same way he did jamahal hill after knocking him out (who absolutely was talking a lot of shit on socials and podcasts). Ank was just the recipient, but if you want to be upset with anyone, it's Ali. Shouldn't have taunted him imo but he had some valid reasons
