I think that's one of the only times I've seen a cat actually fall flat on its back. They seem to have such a knack for anticipation/reaction and body manipulation to somehow land at the very least on their side, even with the cat falling from a very unstable position. Maybe the cat was caught off guard by something it never expected the dog to do based on past play. Even the dog was surprised and didn't know how to react at first

Had a dog die young from health issues and had another dog die due to normal old age. I cried like a bitch with the young death but didn't cry at all for the natural old age death. She lived a good and long life and was treated like a queen. I was just happy I was able to let her live like that for her whole life.

Our golden retriever died a few years ago, still not over it... She got an operation to remove a tumor one year before, and started to show signs for dementia around the same time. (It was funny in a sense, sometimes when I threw her a ball, she ran after it, took a piss, and with that she totally forgot the ball, came back to me, and I had to remind her that she was after her ball.)
Never wear a collar, never restricted, the whole family played with her every day, and had a huge range to roam around. Lived for 15 years.
All is left is my cope that she lived a long and fun life... Wish I could play ball with her one last time...
