I once grabbed a runaway animal and it came apart in my hands like soft bread. Imagine doing that on TV you would never live it down so I understand their reticence.

If you try to grab a dog that's excited like that, it can bite your hands, and that one is big enough that its bites can cause fractures in your finger bones, so you really have to get it right behind the head if you want to protect yourself from that.

small dogs like that have an ability to flop around uncontrollably when they have no desire to be held. Not to mention agitated dogs like this will more than likely also take a bite at your hands in the process. Dogs like this are just trying to get tf out of there and the only real solution is forcing them into a different area or having a trained animal handler catch them

My dog grew around housecats and now she always wants to play with street cats but doesn't realize that they're scared shitless because she's a big girl.

A lot of owners clip dog's nails too close to the vein, which causes it to bleed and it hurts a lot. Trauma from nail clipping is a learned behavior.

Yeah, it's never easy. My dog has been gone 10 years and it eventually transitioned from pain to fond remembrance. This one makes me happy because he was a Schnauzer and it reminds me of his mannerisms when he was flustered by something
