How do I prepare for Battlefield 6/ Europa Universalis 5?
I don't care about graphics, only performance.
When it comes to money the price is not really relevant, rather I want to maximize how much actual value I get out of every dollar spent.

Should I replace some parts, or should I just start from scratch, if so, what should I get?

It's a big ask I know, but I'm lost.

Is tmp 2 enabled in your motherboard? If you have windows 11 then te answer is yes already.
I don't know which cpu you have but the minimum cpu is an i5-8400 so it'll work.
The low vram on the gpu is a problem though.

Looking at the reviews/benchmarks though, looks like it might still play on low at 1080p? And a bit better if you enable fsr - this will render below 1080p and look worse, better than playing at 720p though

For EU5, no idea about the system requirements other than people online recommending 32gb of ram. Also, is xmp enabled in your bios? 2k MHz (double the ram frequency) for your dram frequency is a bit low
Since your current pc has single channel ram, buying 2 sticks of 16gb (32gb in total) would be a good idea. You can buy ddr3 and ddr4 (no idea which your motherboard uses) ram cheap nowadays

This is the cpu
I did try the BF6 beta and it was unplayable, when checking the task manager the CPU was at a 100% so I was thinking that was the bottleneck.
I have Windows 10 (and perhaps maybe not a totally valid version), and it seems I don't have tmp activated
I'll look into fsr.

So 2 additional 16gb sticks, or just the one?
I don't know about xmp, I'll check into.

Thank you, as you probably can tell I'm quite tech illiterate.

Really? I saw the minimum cpu was even lower. Was this with low or lowest settings at 1080p?
Since the game requires tpm and you have played, you definitely have it.

Replace the current stick of ram (I assume there's only one since it's single channel) with the 2 16gb sticks. If there are 4 ram slots in your motherboard, make sure to put the two new sticks in the right spots in order to get dual channel (check the motherboard manual for the right slots).

Yea I lowered it as far as I could, I was getting input delays scaling with the amount of players in the server, I couldn't even get through doorways on the larger maps.

Would the fact that I'm using a television create issues you think?
With the resolution and all.

I'll get the 2 16gb sticks, and look into fsr and xmp respectively, you don't think anything else should be an issue?

Some people online seem to be having weird input lag in bf6 too. Maybe set a fps limit in-game?
The tv shouldn't be adding additional lag over other games, though if the tv has a game mode, turn that on. They can be quite slow

I see, seems more people have the same issue,I did try the fps limiter, nothing changed.

But all in all, I'll get the rams, but you don't think there's a need to replace the cpu?

Just so you can play bf6? I don't think so.
But if you wanted to then you might as well build a new pc; the best cpu on your motherboard is a 9900k which isn't that much faster than the 8700k. So to get an even better cpu you would have to replace it, the motherboard, maybe the ram (if you're upgrading to a ddr5 motherboard). You would also want to upgrade your gpu as well soooooooooo. New pc basically.

Although, I 'spose you could upgrade your gpu. If you wanted to get a new pc later, you wouldn't need to buy a new gpu since you could use that one.

Regardless, people are playing bf6 (somewhat oki-ish at 1080p with FSR enabled) with gtx 1060s

If I were to build basically a new PC, what items should I be getting?
Like I mentioned what I care most about is value/dollar.

Also If I were to get the new gpu now and delay getting the rest, I'd still need to get the rams, that I later would need need to replace, right?
