Why am I getting paid 2 weeks later when I just started working?

Started work this week and apparently won't get my paycheck til the 19th. Why? Shouldn't it be the 12th?

Your workplace pay period is August 31 through September 13. Then they need some days to do accounting and whatever. Your next cheque will be for the 14th through the 27th, and pay you on the 3rd
