Boomer parent got a 2019 MacBook pro that is apparently bricked. Took it to repair shops that can't fix it. Told her it's a power/battery issue and it's not worth fixing.

She uses it primarily at home, what can I do to turn this into a desktop machine? Or is this impossible since they decided to hardwire batteries and prevent running off of a power adapter? What would you do in my situation? It's only 6 years old...

I use a Thinkpad w520 with a removed battery and a dock and my primary computer and it works really well.

Are people really forced to toss/replace batteries or brick their machines once their batteries go? Even old MacBooks let you run off the charger.

yeah if you opened a web browser the cpu would spike to celsius 100 immediately, but go back down to 60C in a moment until you did literally anything and then back to 100C. extended processing sessions longer than like 20 minutes would crash the machine.
