Mountain bike problem
I turned my MTB into a single speed. The chain line is 100% straight but if I pedal super hard, the chain slips and makes a popping sound.
Something's not right but I can't figure out what.

>front and rear cog are brand new, 16T and 32T
>chain is a bit old
>tensioner is perfectly aligned
>chain length should be optimal

The weird thing is that with a longer chain and my old derailleur in place of the tensioner worked perfectly with no chain slippage.

It's not supposed to be taut. The chain needs some slack.

Look at the front chain ring. You can see daylight between the chain and the teeth.
This means it's not fuckintight.

Remove a couple links and get it real tight. Use ratchet straps if you're having difficulty attaching the chain tight

... the chain is on backwards
>Chains don't have backwards/forwards
New chains don't

>FUCKING IDIOT REEEEE MUH TEMPER

I love how people these days have fuses so short they literally cannot have anything disrupt their flow of dopamine or they LASH OUT and will spend the next 5 hours claiming it was justified, which you will now proceed to do

I'm OP and I just bought a new chain. It slips and pops even worse than the worn out one
No idea what the fuck is going on

The tensioner is probably not grabbing the chain enough.
Can you adjust it in any way?
