You should play slay the princess
It covers this specifically
(It is also a very good game)

Nta but I honestly liked the stanley parable-esque schizo split personality parts way better. The 2D woman was fine too sometimes.

Seconding Katawa Shoujo, another free English visual novel.
Prior to DDLC, it was likely the most common first VN for westerners, and is still excellent. Completely blindsided me when I first read it, and don't think I've ever been more immersed in a world than with KS.

I *don't* recommend the steam version, just download it right from the site (DDL on the downloads page). The steam one is censored by default (there's a few short 18+ scenes), and needs an extra patch to restore it to the original. The adult scenes do actually have story relevance, and are best left enabled even if it's not your thing.

You definitely wouldn't want to give Totono a read now, so put in on your list and give it a try some other time. If you want comfort then I would recommend you Sora no Otoshimono
