as of april this year bots surpassed human activity on the net (51 vs 49% respectively) though very little of that is made up of things like LLMs and spam commenters. Nevertheless, there appears to be a large scale, seemingly systemic and targetted use of chatbots across multiple different platforms in recent weeks, with most of the activity seemingly being done to sway public opinion on key issues. This isnt limited to just the USA or the anglosphere however, which is what makes me think it's now the domain of many different factions vying for control of the narrative online. i dont really know what to make of it.

watched the videos and they were okay but dead internet theory is something I already heard about but I do think its both overtaken by bots and somehow alive with some sort of consciousness
