This seems like a filler relationship. Not in the sense that you guys use one another to get over an ex like a rebound, but rather it's something that doesn't bring either of you excitement, where you stay together just because you feel it's a better alternative to splitting apart and having to start fresh? Recognizing you're an addict is the first step to recovery. I've tried to warn about /div/ addiction a few times, and I've seen others do it as well, but you can't make addicts stop using. The addicts here will say they get readings every day for fun, and they can stop any time. But those are just common addict words, regardless of vice. The withdrawals are there too. Ever seen druggies not get their fix? They lash out and rage. What does it look like when no one is reading? Anons lash out and rage, with inflammatory shitposts and trolling to mask the anxiety of not getting that dopamine fix from a reading. If you realize you're addicted, treat it like any other addiction.

The religion aspect was partly circumstantial. She adopted a framework and decided to do cooler things. I've known drug addicts who got clean by going to church, but it's the combination of routine, framework, and anti-doomer ideology. You just need to understand that you can be more and do more, that you don't need external validation, that you can just do something meaningful if you figure out what is meaningful. She's a good example, but I know a few who used to come here daily and cut it down dramatically, took long periods of time off, or stopped altogether. I think some like to imagine that everyone who has ever been here is here forever, but it seems more like a core of addicts that just persist while others come and go, either to lost interest or just having better things to do.

I know that this will most likely fall on deaf ears and possibly trigger a negative response, but hopefully it helps at least one person. I have a soft spot for addicts who want to get well. Good luck to anyone who tries.
