Does our brain hallucinate our reality?

Yes. But some fantasies are less delusional than others.

Our brain is the only way we really process our reality. Our ears could both hear the same thing and it sounds totally different, same for all the other senses. It's all in the brain

>Does our brain hallucinate our reality?

Kind of a strange question because if you ask someone what a hallucination is, they'll say "something that is NOT REAL". Experiencing or seeing something not real.

A hallucination is basically opposed to reality.

yes
waking
dreaming
imagination
hallucination
all products of the brain
and given that the brain works like a computer
all simulations
there are some things the nature of our brains and their workings imply should work that don't work - we should be able to imagine things in our environment and have them be real as anything we currently call "real," for instance - The fact we just kind of can't is why people tend to think we're in someone else's dream or simulation
Anonymous No.40528087
Not really if you remove your emotionality from what you are observing, most of it didn't require any active participation like creation or interpretation. Humans aren't really that creative. Imagining is an idea of how to be prepared. Ego is recognizing the importance of continuity for interacting with your environment etc.

But how can you be sure what youโ€™re seeing is accurate and not concealing something deeper?

Same with your computer. When you look at the trash can icon, do you see the code behind it?

Do psychedelics and you will find out how stupid these questions are. You don't even have a brain. Your mind is the cosmos and your brain is a visual substitute.

Reality is a hallucination. Your brain is a part of the hallucination and therefore does not really do anything.

No or I would have the same degree of control over my reality that I have over my mental fantasies. There is obviously something external to me that imposes reality upon me

Thereโ€™s no such thing as โ€œrealityโ€. We made that up.

I think anon here has a good point. We have to define our words first. Perhaps what OP is trying to ask is
>is our brain merely just projecting this reality?
Because hallucination just means seeing something that isnโ€™t real. However; thatโ€™s generalizing that what most epistemologically process is not real and/or certain. The word โ€œhallucinationsโ€ is already saying that what the brain is seeing or experiencing isnโ€™t real already as it is.
>why do I care about language?
Because if we donโ€™t define our words and actually understand what we are saying, then we are not asking the most logical questions. Now that we have replaced it with projection and rather asking โ€œis what our brain projecting real? Or can we be certain that our brain is projecting xyz things?โ€ Then the discussion because more cohesive and interesting.
