To be honest, while the timeline is off, I'm actually more reminded of something John Titor said in a forum. A person asked him if marijuana would ever be legalized, and he responded with something to the effect of "Yes, around the same time the cops stop coming when you call. Year [x, I forget the year he stated but it's long since come and gone] is the year when it will become obvious that the system is at war with you.". We seem to be awful close to the scenario Titor mentioned. Between Trump's overt fascism, and the Democratic party's self imposed impotence functioning as permission by means of indifference, and given the way law enforcement has begun largely viewing the American public as enemies...yeah...that scenario Titor was talking about seems a hell of a lot more plausible in 2025 than it did back in 2007, or whenever that was. Oh look, pot's slowly legalizing too...

Well, I can't argue one way or the other for that. To my knowledge, Titor's mythology is distinctly US-centric. I also don't claim to be an expert on the story, either. It's just something that's been rattling around my head the last week...Titor's words, while long past expiration date, seem oddly applicable now.
