The Great Flood in the story of Noah's Ark. This is probably the Old Testament story that sounds the craziest. But in a turn of irony it's the most likely one to be completely true.

Again maybe not. Let's say if there was a flood that covered almost all of Asia and Europe. From the point of view of Noah, it would look like the entire world was flooded, when maybe it's just a few thousand square miles.

A handful of survivors on one boat would explain the DNA bottleneck. Those survivors being the ancestors of many different tribes would explain why the legend of the Ark appears in so many cultures that seem otherwise disconnected.
