I just started looking into this Gnostic view of Christianity, and as a Greek Orthodox convert I’m honestly freaking out. I tried asking my spiritual father at our local church some questions about the Pneumatikoi, Sethians, Nazoreans, Cathars, Bogomils, and other Gnostic phenomena in general he just dismissed them as heretical nonsense, said they shouldn't be taken seriousl and made no further commentary.

There are basically 2 camps in Christianity: Petrine-Pauline Christianity of Hierarchy, Sin, Fear, Retribution, FUD, Orders and Rules, and scriptures, which emphasize Priests and Ministers, and Deacons, all between you and your God.
