I remember watching them as they came out years ago, and not really getting it. Something about how like... Things are presented as so nice and friendly, but when you squint and rub your eyes, you realize you live in a disgusting amoral wasteland

Webseries. The tv show feels a lot more sanitized with a lot of the esoteric elements watered down. Which of course it is.
I never saw episode 3 as criticizing Christianity specifically, moreso general institutions, but there is certainly Abrahamic and pagan undertones to the cult that appears.
