Get saved first so this doesn't happen to you:

“¶ Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had evil spirits the name of the Lord Jesus, saying, We adjure you by Jesus whom Paul preacheth. And there were seven sons of one Sceva, a Jew, and chief of the priests, which did so. And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye? And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.” (Acts 19:13-16)

>Catholic
Become an ordained priest then go to school to learn psychology and theology. It takes years of time and research to properly conduct an exorcism and most of it just comes down to reading a script.
>Protestant
You can cast out demons with the power of Christ, anyone can. It's find and bind. If you find someone with a demonic problem, use your faith to cast them back to hell.

>>40582107
On the protestant side things are a lot less theatric. There are no wooden stakes, silver crosses and holy water. Christ and the Holy Spirit give you everything you need.
>Romans 8:31
> What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?

>>40582788
Most aspects of faith are often argued and filtered through hundreds of interpretations. Wanting to be holy is a desire given not taken. The fact they show interest in fighting evil where they see it is a positive. I just pray they are not taken advantage of by those seeking to benefit from them.

Alright, give me some verses against it then.
(note you cast the demons to hell, not the person obviously)

Mark 3:14-15
And he ordained twelve, that they should be with him, and that he might send them forth to preach, And to have power to heal sicknesses, and to cast out devils:
>but that's a disciples only thing!!

Mark 16-17
Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues;
>But people cannot cast out demons alone! Only Christ and God have the power!
This is true, note:

Mathew 12:26-28
If Satan drives out Satan, he is divided against himself. How then can his kingdom stand? And if I drive out demons by Beelzebul, by whom do your people drive them out? So then, they will be your judges. But if it is by the Spirit of God that I drive out demons, then the kingdom of God has come upon you.

>Your a heretic! Healing the sick and driving out demons can only be done by the ordained!!

I present:
Mark 9:38-41
“Teacher,” said John, “we saw someone driving out demons in your name and we told him to stop, because he was not one of us.”

“Do not stop him,” Jesus said. “For no one who does a miracle in my name can in the next moment say anything bad about me, for whoever is not against us is for us. Truly I tell you, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to the Messiah will certainly not lose their reward.

Only through Christ can one bring other to salvation and cast out demons.
Matthew 19:26
“With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

>Alright, give me some verses against it then. (note you cast the demons to hell, not the person obviously).

Devils don't go to hell when you cast them out; they go to dry places where they aren't bound like they'd be in hell, so they may come back and resume business as usual, even going into beasts, as I'm sure you remember.

“When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation. (Matthew 12:43-46)

Also faith alone isn't always sufficient:

“Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting.” (Matthew 17:21)

Have you got what it takes? To be an exorcist you have to offer to wash the feet of your local clergy and pastors. When they call the cops on you trembling; then you've got what it takes.

I'd argue that we can do all things through Christ who gives us strength. With him they go where they are cast: as you noted pigs and the ocean they died in are not exactly dry places. So we can identify they will not always come back worse then before or roam about freely after they are cast out. Note, there are Biblical cases in which they do, especially when people use their own power rather than Christs. For instance in:

Acts 19:13-16
16 And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

During Revelation we see Christ has the power to permanently bind demons in hell. So to claim that he does not have the power or can not aid us when we call upon him is not supported in scripture.

Revelation 20:10
"And the devil who had deceived them was thrown into the lake of fire and sulfur, into which the beast and the false prophet had already been thrown. There they will be tormented day and night forever and ever."

> faith alone isn't always sufficient
I'd agree, though I'd mark faith as a great strength of the believer. We show our faith through our works. If someone seeks to help one another as God calls us to, then they already are already working in his will. Which leaves faith, if someone commits to the path of Christ but believes works are greater than faith.
Jame 2:18
18 But someone will say, “You have faith and I have works.” Show me your faith apart from your works, and I will show you my faith by my works.

Going to war with darkness just creates more darkness, usually as funerals.
Darkness is simply the misunderstanding side of duality.
Misunderstanding the self, desire, the body, God, others...
Misunderstanding damages your mental state, accumulate enough damage and you become filled with darkness.
Does that mean you can't be saved? Or can you overcome the darkness within you through honesty and self-compassion?

>With him they go where they are cast: as you noted pigs and the ocean they died in are not exactly dry places.

Jesus didn't cast them "into the pigs", neither does it say He caused the pigs to die in the water. He casts them out of the man's body, and the devils (with Jesus' permission) go to the pigs by themselves, possibly to avoid said dry places.

“And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, (they were about two thousand;) and were choked in the sea.” (Mark 5:13)

In any event, the dry places are a reference to something that isn't hell. That's the whole point.

>During Revelation we see Christ has the power to permanently bind demons in hell.

The context here is believers exorcising devils from people's bodies, not God Himself binding Satan in hell.

>So to claim that he does not have the power or can not aid us when we call upon him is not supported in scripture.

And the suggestion that I limited God's power in this manner is not supported by anything I said in this thread.

>We show our faith through our works.

You're steering away from the context again. The point was that believers who Jesus appointed for the task of casting out devils, could not do so in one particular case despite their faith, because that type of devil, if to be dealt with by believers (as opposed to by Jesus Himself directly who always casts them out right away), still requires 2 extra steps beyond the commandment to come out, which are prayer and fasting.

It takes catholic exorcism priests about 6 months to rid someone of demons. Meanwhile Protestant exorcists say they can do it usually in as little as 15 minutes to a couple hours.

Something must be wrong. I don’t know what or whose right.

Exorcism works only on believer that can associate emotion state to the words and name you speak. Christian exorcism won't work on muslims as he does on catholics, because for a muslim the name of Jesus means nothing.

More the target is a true believer, more it works.
