That's the default output size. No, it's that or 1536x1024 or 1024x1024.
These sizes are used as output because of the way the technology works, it's the most efficient and other sizes would either take longer or use more resources.
The details remain secret sauce but I suspect they produce an imagine that is 1024x1024, and then they fill the missing picture in 2 batches of 512x512, because, the math matches, and they must be using an UNET somewhere (which does the power of 2 64->128->256->512 thing that makes drawing pictures so fast.)
Anyway, the important part is that AIs have become so good at making pictures that look real that we have resorted to looking at picture dimensions, so resizing to 1000x1503 takes that away. At least nobody is doing that the other way around, resizing real pictures to 1024x1536 so we think it's AI, so if you see those numbers, it's almost guaranteed to be an AI generation.
