Introverts are main characters, extroverts are npcs

Extroverts literally can't stand being alone with their thoughts or being separated from a group. It breaks their programming.

There are no npcs.
Everyone is the protagonist of their own story.
Your acknowledgement or ignorance of this fact does not change it.
Have fun.

Anyone can delude themselves into thinking they are the main character, but few can take that role rightfully in society. Unfortunately introverts tend to struggle with this more, and so they cope even when pushing themselves.

Na some people are genuinely NPCs and while I hesitate to make the judgement towards specific people, I know for a fact that npcs, with atrophied minds who live their lives entirely around routine and actively resist new information exist.
Anonymous No.40620811 [Report] >>40620824 >>40624925
>>40620794
You would fit that definition.
You are resisting new information right now.
The fact is if I say "No one is a NPC"
No one will ever say "Wrong, I am a NPC" and be right.
Because a NPC doesn't say "Main character, you are wrong, I am actually a NPC" only a main character could say "Wrong, I am a NPC"
So, if I make the claim and no one will ever counter it about themselves (You don't know other people better than they know themselves, sorry, you just want to feel superior to someone) the claim is 100% true.
RIP in peace npc meme, you were shit.

1- I am not resisting the information you're giving me, I'm engaging with it meaningfully
2- I have absolutely no problem whatsoever with seeing myself as an NPC. I don't know whether I'm one or not, because ones own bias drives us to think we're the main character. The only thing I'd say is that it's important we understand that being an NPC is a possibility and strive against it however we can. I think claiming NPCs don't exist is in itself a very NPCs opinion because it's holding your hands over your eyes and ears and saying "lalalalalallaa nope doesnt exist we're all special in our own way"

It's objectively true.
How long would it take you to find someone that looks exactly like you?
How long would it take you to find someone that looks exactly like you that thinks exactly like you?
You are unique, meaning you are infinitely improbable, as is everyone.
There are no NPCs, it was a dumb meme spread by people with low self esteem desperate to feel better than others.

Many people actively diminish their uniqueness for the sake of fitting in with a large group, at the expense of their ability to think freely. These are npcs

And what you're saying is a dumb meme to make mediocre people feel special.

They can attempt to and the degree they do this will be unique.
There are no NPCs.
Just people with low self esteem who need to feel they have something over other people.
You already have something over other people, you're you.
No one else is you.
You're wasting your life defending a shitty meme in some kind of bucket crab effort to drag imaginary people down to npc level, these people aren't even present, they're mogging you and dominating your mind lol

Uniqueness is on a spectrum, if everyone were equally unique as you seem to be asserting then nobody would actually stand out

Since who stands out is always changing and depends on social pressures, there's a good argument to be made that no one stands out. There are just contexts that some people fit in better than others.

But they are.
Even someone totally forgettable and boring is in actual fact totally unique.
From their POV, they're the main character of reality.

An Englishman stands out in New York when before they were lost in the crowd. Is it that Englishmen stand out, or is it that people seek to stand out? All of them. And for this, no one stands out. Instead places of standing are made.

No they are not "totally" unique. And neither am I. As I said, uniqueness exists on a spectrum, and some people make extremely little effort to break away from the outside, environmental factors that form who they are.

I mean it whole heatedly, and semantics is the study of meaning. People claim it colloquially when they fail to see distinction. That's some NPC behavior, ain't it? Half joking.

Because I think your example is a rhetorical trick that doesn't actually address the topic being discussed, namely whether or not the "NPC" is a real human condition

You're just wrong.

What am I wrong about?
The language i speak is not unique. My religious beliefs are not wholly unique. Not are my political views. Nobody is "totally" unique. The thing that makes us who we are, our "character" is not totally unique.
Anonymous No.40621030 [Report] >>40621044
>>40621001
Oh, I can connect that if you like. I primarily deal with phenomenology, which has a great deal to say about the "real human condition." For instance, it is a real human condition to believe that nobody stands out. The societal and natural differences by which we judge others and ourselves are largely constructed, which is the point I was illustrating. If you're going to argue over the nature and implications of a label society recently defined you are indeed playing with semantics. We could take this back to when we called people robots, or daemons, and you might find some useful overlap.

Because certain aspects of ourselves are more unique than others

Anonymous No.40621067 [Report] >>40621118

Those are contradictory ideas.
I can't have a unique identity and have aspect of that identity not be unique just because I share traits.
Anonymous No.40621068 [Report]
>>40621044
People make that mistake with me often. I had a college level writing proficiency when I was 6. I really can't help the way I communicate naturally. Back on topic though, you're going to hate my answer.
>So are you a relativist?
Yes and no. I think relativism is being treated like an absolute when really its just a contextual dependency. I think absolute reality is an ideal without strict definition, one that is both self fulfilling and self appraising. I spend a lot of time formalizing these notions mathematically for fun.

>I can't have a unique identity and have aspect of that identity not be unique just because I share traits.
Not only can you, you do. Its self evident. Is being a white woman who speaks English not part of your identity? Pretty common too. Yet you still retain a unique identity.
I can see it in one of two ways: either we sit on a scale with common on one end and unique on the other, with nobody fully leaned to one side. OR we could say that the exact combination of shared traits is in itself wholly unique. Either way, I think both outlooks don't disqualify the existence of the npc, who's shared traits heavily outweigh their uniqueness.
Anonymous No.40621141 [Report] >>40621156 >>40621182
>>40621118
If my identity is unique then the traits i have are unique, they are only shared in shallow ways.
Otherwise it's like this.
You have x amount of traits.
If 99% of them are common and you can't name one unique one, you're common not unique.
The way I speak english is unique to me for example, no one can speak english exactly like I do.
Just like no one walks exactly like me.

Given that we build technology to emulate us, we are destined to become less and less unique by this metric, at an exponential rate to boot.

Anonymous No.40621182 [Report]

It isn't always shallow though, try finding a critically thinking person in a ideological discord server. People deliberately seek these groups so their common traits can be reinforced. Then exend this to real life. Blue states, red states, secular countries, religious ones. I'm not trying to single out any particular group or ideology, some are more true than others, but they're all subject to uncritical group think probably by the majority.

Read plato's Republic and the allegory of the cave, it's the easiest way to visualise the issue.
Before going out of the cave, you are NOT the protagonist of your own story. You are the protagonist of the story the ones on the second level of the cave give you. Everyone CAN become their own master, but to attain that level you need to understand the nature of YOUR reality. Note that i didn't just say reality.
