Serpent symbolism!
Reading the secret teachings of all ages, i read a super interesting chapter on serpent symbolism where the author says the serpent has been a major esoteric entity in nearly every ancient culture from Amer indians, greeks, chaldeans, and, hindus It’s often seen as a symbol of wisdom, healing, rebirth, and even salvation as well as the snake removing its skin made it be seen as anatural symbol of immortality and transformation
he even claims christianity later seeing the serpent as an evil symbol was because they "misunderstood" the story of Eden with the serpent and he claims Christians got it wrong since in the bible moses uses a serpent on a pole to heal people as well as Jesus's prophecies and how he himself said to β€œbe wise as serpents"

Just like in real life, I won't trust snakes because of their dangerous venom, their cold blood, and their ability to conceal themselves on the ground and trees... yeah, I'm not buying into this, no thanks.

But when they are?
It can and has proven fatal to people.
There's a reason why most humans have an in-built cannibalistic fear of snakes and spiders.
It's what helped kept us alive.
I'm personally not going to over think it, I won't be looking for serpents for spiritual and esoteric guidance, because just like their real life counterpart, it's too risky.

Serpent/Dragon = Chaos
Chaos alchemically is like... breaking everything down into the soup. It allows transformations, both good and evil.

Dragons on the other hand are pretty cool. They are a fearsome, intelligent, and proud beast that can fly and travel like how a bird can.

They are often a great and dangerous obstacle to overcome for a hero, but once the dragon is defeated, the strength and legendary status goes from the dragon to the hero instead. Now the hero has proven their worth, ability, and courage after defeating the formidable dragon.

Dragons are very cool, but they also have the capacity to commit wanton-destruction around their environment. Let's be as strong as dragons, while still retaining our precious humanity.

What's up Hiccup

I could ride the dragon. But if the dragon is evil and unwilling to be subjugated, there's only one appropriate course of action unfortunately, and that is to defeat the dragon through the force of arms.

You problem is believing the dragon to be evil. It was born from the dust, just like you, but contains all "colors of the rainbow" that is God's refracted Light.
It's a fun little narrative fantasy you've got there though.

My problem is not that I believe dragons are evil, my problem is that I believe in the possibility that dragons can become evil. That's an important distinction here, and that is why I said >if the dragon is evil

And btw, I'm not a dragon hater, like I said I think they're very cool. In a way, I wish to emulate the dragons themselves. Not all humans are good, and I'm sure that simple truth is no different for the dragons as well, but we can still respect and praise the good qualities of what humans and dragons are capable of regardless of their potential flaws.

And also, to clarify my comment made about dragons not being a threat, I meant if they are not an active threat. For example, if they are not indiscriminately attacking other people who are simply minding their own business, I would not consider them an (active) threat.

I know a dragon has the capacity to be a powerful threat, but will they be a threat is the question I'm more concerned with.

I see where we diverge. I imagine the dragon (chaos) as being... way too big in a way too small box. I don't think it breaks shit out of any sense of anything other than being a bull in a china shop.

So you're saying dragons are like a force of nature? A dumb beast with no sense of control over themselves like a bull? I am of the opinion that dragons are extremely intelligent creatures with the capacity to comprehend their own actions and the actions of others, they just simply lack humanity because they are, well dragons.

NTA, yes. It goes back to the old stories in which towns had a form of appeasement to keep the dragons from attacking. Everything has a catch.

And to add on to my post here >>40635520

You see time and time again in ancient lore from a variety of cultures, that dragons are very intelligent and sentient creatures, but with a clear lack of humanity, for the simple fact that they are dragons, not humans. They may be a force of nature, the embodiment of chaos itself, but they can still comprehend cause and effect, their actions, and the actions of others, and they can still choose to do good, or to do bad, they just simply lack the inherent humanity that belongs to humans when they make their decisions.

That's what makes dragons so interesting, and so cool. And that is why I am of the opinion that humans should be like dragons, while still being able to retain their own humanity.

It's a metaphorical way to describe Chaos anon. You are taking it far too literally. Unless I wake up and see a dragon actually fly across the sky (which would be awesome and I wish for a lot) I'm going to keep considering dragons to be metaphor toward the functionality of Chaos as the first force of nature/activation of reality.

ouroboros, the snake eating itself, an entity devouring what it has achieved (ego), i think that's a really nice represention of the serpent, adam- 1st: the one, eve -2nd: a reflection/clone of the counterpart, serpent-3rd: ego, god in all, the serpent wise but impulsive convinces others to perform the original sin, i think the bible showcased it beautifully, as twisted by the humans it may be, it still contains some of The Narrative.

Dragons are large scale players of "The Great Game" (stuff advanced spiritual practitioners are doing).
Nefirtiti of ancient Babylon/Egypt etc is an example. (real Monarchs are not natural beings; the world is built through spiritual strategy games; ie civilizations are founded spiritually; not by normal humans choosing to found a nation and building a bunch of buildings one day or something).
Anonymous No.40635735

Anon, I am also speaking metaphorically as well, and I still stand by what I said. The devil is in the details, anon, and all of the ancient lore on dragons oftentimes showcase the stories where the dragons can have the capacity to think, reason, and make their own choices, just like humans do, but that they simply lack humanity. There is real meaning to these fictional stories when we compare it towards the idea of Chaos itself, so it's important to acknowledge this even when we are speaking in metaphorical terms.

And with that being said, as humans, we should metaphorically be like dragons, while still retaining our own real and precious humanity.
