Have you heard Aphrodite's origin story, Anon?
Known to the Romans as Venus and to the Mesopotamians as Ishtar, Aphrodite was the Greek Goddess of Love, Beauty, and Sex.
She was born fully grown when Cronus slashed the scrotum of Uranus, his semen then creating the sea foam; And as She rose from the sea foam, flowers began to bloom and animals began mating. That which emerged was the Goddess of Desire: Aphrodite.
She is born of maleness but is transformed into the very symbol of beuaty and femininity. This really resonates with me as a trans woman.
Not only that, but there's Aphroditus. The male Aphrodite who is respected as a woman nonetheless. Her festivals involved crossdressing for both men and women, symbolizing gender non-conformity.
For all those who'd like to explore further, I invite you to the Order of Aphrodite: Sisters United in Faith
