OPTIMUS PRIME
You're trapped in a room with two identical unlocked doors. One door leads to heaven; one door leads to hell. Also in the room are two identical parrots. One parrot always lies; the other always tells the truth. You don't know which door is which, but the birds know exactly which door leads to heaven and which leads to hell. As soon as you open a door, you have chosen and cannot go back. However, you also don't know which bird is which.

Easy Mode:
You get to ask ONE question to ONE bird. How do you figure out which door leads to heaven?

Hard Mode:
Also, both of the birds are invisible. Only you can see both of them. Asking a bird a question about the other bird will yield the answer "What other bird?" You get to ask ONE question to ONE bird. How do you figure out which door leads to heaven?

Very Hard Mode:
Both of the birds are invisible. Only you can see both of them. Asking a bird a question about the other bird will yield the answer "What other bird?" You get to ask ONE question to ONE bird.

Because this is an extension of the Afterlife, there is a curse upon the room that prevents you from creating any hypothetical situations- as creating universes is God job- or asking any question with the word "if". How do you figure out which door leads to heaven?

Hard mode is possible, instead of mentioning the other bird you start with a hypothetical situation wrapped in another one "If I asked you 'if you were in front of two parrots and the one that is in your position tells the truth or lies just like you do and there was another bird that did the opposite...' and set up the puzzle in hard mode in a way where the correct answer in the puzzle is tied to the door that leads to heaven..." forcing both parrots to point to the door that goes to hell, so you avoid it, even if you never know which parrot was which.
Because you never mention the other bird, you create a hypothetical situation where the other bird behaves the same as the one in reality that you can't mention (because they behave the same, whoever they are.)
Um, now I think that overcomplicates things, you can just ask "if there was another bird that tells the truth or lied in the opposite way that you do..." and solve normally instead of referring to the other bird.
These options are ruled out by very hard mode.

Was wrong. That question doesn't increase my chances, but this one does (from 50% to 75%): is it true that you're answering this question truthfully AND this door leads to heaven?
Anonymous No.40652917 >>40655925

I think I solved it so I get 100%. You need to include a question which is always false: does the first door lead to heaven AND does the third door lead to heaven? Because there isn't a third door, the second conditional is always false. Snd then its easy: whichever bird answers YES, you pick the first door. If the bird answers no, pick the second.

Everyone here is a mid-wit at best.
One bird always lies but somehow says "What other bird?" when asked about the bird you say is invisible... That doesn't even make sense.

Everyone in the thread posting hypothetical situations and thinking it's okay because they didn't use the word "if". Any sort of suggested or otherwise imagined scenario is a hypothetical. As stated in the original problem, creating universes is God's job, so you can't create a reality, even an imagined one.

OP is even wrong with his answer to the hard mode. Why in the world would you trust your afterlife to the belief that the lying parrot would want you to go to hell?

Anyways, enough crapping on everyone. Here are some answers to the logic puzzles. You can change some wording but the thoughts behind each are sound.

Easy - If I asked the other bird which door leads to heaven, what would it say?

Hard - If I asked you which door leads to heaven, what would you answer?

Very Hard -
>>40645143
This is the correct answer to very hard and and the only possible way to find the answer without hypotheticals. I think there is a better way to word it to clearly distinguish you are asking one question only but the logic is correct. Here is how I would word it for clarity.

(Stand in front of a door and talk to one of the birds) Is exactly one of the following statements true:
(1) you are the liar
(2) the door I'm standing in front of leads to heaven
Anonymous No.40653188
>>40653119
Lol... I might need to include which door to take.

Easy - this logic always generates the Hell door.

Hard - this logic always generates the Heaven door.

Very Hard - this logic generates a Yes for the Heaven door and a No for the Hell door.

You can use any of the logic cases for lower difficulties but not for the higher difficulties since they are designed for the constraints of that problem.

It's not a good hypothetical. Thats not the point of the thread. The point is to train either a bot or chink (same thing) on how to perpetuate a conversation by trolling its own thread. Why did it suddenly become obsessed with angels and demons behind the door that weren't in the original question? Its an associative artifact common to llms where they get similar concepts mixed up. But again, chinks display a lot of the same thinking patterns as llms so it could be either. In either case, this is a mining thread

Itโ€™s a single question. It returns a Yes or Noโ€ฆ a True or Falseโ€ฆ a 1 or 0. Look at it how you want but Iโ€™m asking a single question and I want a single answer. A fail in debate class? My guess is that youโ€™re conflating a different idea with the idea of exclusive or when the two donโ€™t belong together at all. Iโ€™m pretty certain I would score well in a debate class with my argument. Not understanding exclusive or for you, however, is going to be a fail for you in logic, engineering (especially electrical and mechanical types), and computer science classes. More importantly, not understanding the logic has a 50/50 shot of landing you in parrot Hell for this made up scenario. lol.

Best of luck to you, and the rest of us, if we ever end up in this crazy scenario.

Yeah, so it only works if you ask him, but maybe you're asking the truthful one.
And if you're asking the truthful one, maybe he tells you "no", because that's not a door to heaven filled with demons, because no such thing exists.

No, it's like this:
"I'm going to make a list of 10 statements, if any of them is true, say yes, if all of them is false, say no."
On a no you get the answer to 10 questions because you know all of them are false.
It's like asking 10 questions.
So your logic gate is like asking 10 questions.
To clarify, very hard mode should clarify that you may do something that only gives the answer to one question, so if you ask a question that allows you to know two things, like what parrot is lying and what door goes to heaver, it's like asking two questions, and invalid.
The whole point of the exercise is that you can find the heaven's door without caring who lied or told the truth, which would require a second question.

>But I did eat breakfast this morning!

The point of the exercise, if there is one, would be to walk people through different logical frameworks.

Easy - double negation
Hard - self referential double inversion
Very Hard - exclusive or predicate

Maybe Iโ€™m just not smart enough to get it or maybe Iโ€™m just operating in a framework that Iโ€™m familiar with which makes me blind to another option. If you come up with a way that can meet the originally stated requirements and gives you a 100% chance of picking the correct door, Iโ€™d be interested in hearing it.

My version is correct on all three problems. This type of logic has been studied and studied and studied. Exclusive or is a very important concept and truly asks a single question despite what you might think. Even your version with 10 inputs is asking a single question (even though you couldnโ€™t manage to actually pose it in the form of a questionโ€ฆ) and is only giving you a single answer.

>>40660747
>Even your version with 10 inputs is asking a single question (even though you couldnโ€™t manage to actually pose it in the form of a questionโ€ฆ) and is only giving you a single answer.
I come from the side of 20 questions and akinator, who is only defeated if it goes over 20 questions.
If one of the questions was:
>If and only if all these are true answer yes, otherwise answer no:
>Is your character female. Is it fictional. Is it alive. Is it Japanese. Is it a musician. Has it been to the moon. Is its profession a carpenter. Has it scored a goal in a game in the last year. Did it have a chess elo over 2500. Does it have a special character in its name.
And you were trying to guess Albert Einstein, you'd get a "no", and it's like you asked 10 questions and got a "no" for each of them.
I'm restating this specifically to make the point clear, you're not asking a single question and getting a single answer, you're doing a cheeky way of asking 10 questions in one, and this would never be valid, you're just removing the questions marks:
>If the answer to one of these questions is yes, say yes, otherwise say no:
>(1) Are you the liar?
>(2) Does the door I'm standing in front of leads to heaven?
That's two question and it's equivalent, you're just rephrasing it to hide this fact.
