>>40653069 (OP)Who cares about the gospel of Thomas? People don't even know the regular Bible enough yet.
Would Jesus strike someone down? I'm not sure.
In the Bible, prophets and the Holy Ghost have struck people down with divine power.
The Apostle Paul blinded a sorcerer who was opposing the gospel, which is interesting because Paul himself was previously blinded.
A prophet in the Old Testament cured someone of leprosy and then later smote someone else with it.
Certain healers with a familiarity with curing a certain disease could probably put that disease onto someone else.
Spiritual theories are not enough to build doctrines off of in the same way that court cases have precedents, but they can be interesting.
The Apostle Peter pronounced the death of Ananias and Sapphira with the Holy Ghost and they dropped dead. He was given supernatural foreknowledge of their shady dealings and the corruption was dealt with swiftly.
However, when you look at what happened to the Roman Empire, we understand that Conversion is Superior to Force.
Converting increases your numbers while decreasing the numbers of opponents. It's superior to naked force.
Conversion is a somewhat lost art form at the moment in America in my opinion, and it's been replaced with propaganda and/or indoctrination of the youth/population.
True conversion is accomplished in a supernatural manner with the power of the Holy Ghost penetrating past mental and emotional barriers and changing someone on the inside as opposed to superficial outward changes.
True conversion is superior to force, propaganda, indoctrination and mere logical arguments.
Basically, Jesus Christ the Risen doesn't need to kill people when He can supernaturally change their hearts and minds and genuinely change even twisted and insane and evil individuals.
However there are some stories, modern and ancient, about God striking down certain truly evil individuals who opposed the gospel where they died in very strange circumstances.
