Most don't want the freedom to do, not do, be and not be, have and not have. This probably includes you, even if you disagree.
Most want freedom from as many things as possible. The highest expression of this freedom from things is freedom from yourself.
This is why most will always yearn to be given strict guidelines, predetermined views of the world, and in the end, rejoin a greater other outside of themselves so that they can dissolve within it.
This kind of freedom feels elating because it requires very little of you. It is a step before death, which is the absolute freedom. You won't have the pleasures and the joys of life, but you also won't have the stress, the pain, the anxiety and the terror of it. It is a high that numbs you. It is safe. You are turning into an empty husk filled by something that is not you. Maybe that sounds like an insult, but it isn't. It's what most people want and do because it is hard to live life. It's easier to not live it. You don't live it by not being yourself and letting something else bear life's brunt.
The other kind of freedom is terrifying. It exposes you to the terror, pain and hardship of life, but it also exposes you to the joys, pleasures and elation it has to offer. There is nothing within you but you, and for that to be manifested, you have to confront, accept and integrate every aspect of you, including the terrifying, the perverse, the disgusting, the hateful. You will find that they fit with the beautiful, the sweet, the nurturing sides of you like pieces of a puzzle. The only way to brave life on this path is to make yourself whole and manifest everything that is uniquely you. You do not seek to disintegrate yourself in a greater other, you seek to become the greater you.
Most people are terrified of the second kind of freedom and run to the first. That is probably who you are, too. And that is okay.
You are either made for it or you are not.
You are either born a man of Yahweh or a man Lucifer.
