1- the argument for a creator is utterly irrelevant to the presence of the appendix
2- only man's hubris says "I don't know why it's here, therefore it's useless, therefore God doesn't exist". The existence of God does not depend on man knowing everything about everything.

I wonder if inflamed appendicitis was a thing in the past, like 200 years ago, 500 years ago, ... or if it's a fairly modern problem.

It's a refuge for good bacteria in case you eat something seriously fucked up like rotten meat or whatever, they told a buddy of mine that he's lucky he still had his appendix after being taken into the hospital for food poisoning.

its just not essential, sure you don't need it, but its still nice to have

If you think it's non-functional, see what happens to those who have it removed, specifically their immune function.

I was watching an old lecture by a swami, like in the 80s or 90s and he mentioned something like that. That our appendixes used to be bigger but they been shrinking due to our changes in diet

Vestigial organs are a meme. Not real. MAde up by retards.

>but but but the vagus nerve does this loop thing!
It has to. Look at the organs it supplies and where it has to go.

Atheists are so fucking stupid and I'm not even religious.

Exactly, if the beings living on earth can imagine "what would world be like if we all got our energy directly from sunlight, and wouldn't need to eat other beings", its effects on nature alone, if even humans are capable of having such thoughts, then surely this god must not be so good?

Youโ€™re a fucking retard.
The appendix provides a crucible for your gut microbiome. Itโ€™s why taking antibiotics doesnโ€™t kill your gut biota forever.
The appendix is one of if not the most important organs in the body given how much the gastrointestinal system influences the brain.

But good on you for being scientifically retarded AND an atheist.

For sex.
>Whale pelvic bones, once considered vestigial remnants, are now understood to play a crucial role in reproductive function, particularly in penis control during mating. These bones, though not connected to the spine or legs, are embedded in muscles and tendons, and their size and shape are influenced by sexual selection.

>We are made by a creator.
No, we aren't. You are a monkey with anxiety.
>intellijent design.
Also, no. A product of chance, large amount of time and resources.
>Designs a nonfunctional organ.
Also no. Medicine advancements, technology and culture for around a couple of thousands of years made us develop certain aspects of our bodies while the non-usable parts are being slowly and progressively atrofied and disposed of, just like your brain.

There is no intelligent design. We weren't made by a creator. Organic systems, such as the digestive system, were created by vices known as "the seven deadly sins", which ended up as necessities, thus emanating these organic systems.
Every necessity we have today, was once a vice, a addiction.
If you can't understand this, and really need to believe in a "creator", you are a npc.

The history of the universe as understood by modern science describes a series of "creative horizons" where the possibilities of physical interactions dramatically expanded. One of these horizons occurred approximately 380,000 years after the Big Bang when the universe cooled and expanded enough for atoms to form, which allowed for the emergence of stars and galaxies. The first stars forged the heavier elements, expanding the possibilities of chemical interaction yet further, making possible the formation of rocky planets such as Earth. The formation of rocky planets in turn made possible the emergence of biological life and its endless and ever-expanding diversity of interactions. And the history of life is filled with creative horizons such as The Great Oxygenation Event (which enabled aerobic metabolism and more energetic and complex life) Eukaryogenesis, Multicellularity, the Cambrian Explosion, the colonization of land, and the evolution of sociality and intelligence. Likewise with the history of humanity.

The universe has a trend towards "increasing complexity," meaning greater creative freedom and novelty. The Cosmos perpetually grasps beyond the immediate actuality of "now" towards unrealized possibilities. This isn't the result of a mind, but the dynamic and interconnected nature of reality.

The expression of this aconscious "Eros of the Universe" in human experience is Curiosity, the desire for The Unknown, the urge to create, explore, discover, learn, connect, relate, and love. Whenever we try to grasp beyond our existing limitations, we follow the will of the universe.

TL;DR biological evolution is a part of cosmic evolution. Picture describes the personal spiritual implications.

already debunked.

bacteria gets stored there, so when you get sick and your gut microbe is gone (diarrhea), your gut can then regenerate sourcing the bacteria deposits in the appendix
