I think no matter the state of our technological development, the way of relating to people is what causes the problems we have.
I think our technological developments are a good thing, because it makes it so obvious how corrupt our value systems are.
When it comes to me just navigating the world in the technological landscape I am in, I just use it for beneficial and empowering purposes, mostly.
I should add that the way our society is organized is really nothing new, in my opinion

Id say it is increasingly powerful. I believe we are starting to get to the point though where it is becoming inherently unethical. Where we disfigure or even destroy a person as a human being who is made in God's image. Tolkien called (in his case he was discussing nukes) this kind of thing "babel building".

So usually I think technology is composed of a vast array of tools which we use and in this I see nothing wrong. In fact I would say that any evil we might see in the tools we use (abuse would be more appropriate) is a reflection on us and the underlying motives for using tools in an evil way.

There's some good as well, things like the internet let you forge connections with people across the world through things like the wonders of online gaming (back in the day at least, now most games are just another engagement/propaganda/attention trap). Even now the internet lets us at least have this conversation (even if only because places like this serve as a pressure release for the system, pressure that would otherwise manifest in more radicals and crazies doing crazy things).
I'm ambivalent about technology in general. I'm not a luddite, and I don't think we need to entirely throw out the baby with the bathwater, but much of technology is problematic. For example we tend to design everything with ease of use in mind, not thinking about any deeper purpose or effect of the technology.

That's a good way of putting it. When technology ceases to be merely a tool and becomes an entire way of life is when we should probably be really worried. The most apt example I can think of is the technology we've used to compile and search for information:

I would say the point where this technology ceased being a mere tool and became something more malicious is when search engines matured, and became more and more opaque. We're now right at the start of the transition to ML/AI powered search engines, which are already but will become even more opaque still. This technology will seriously alter the way human beings think and function from this point onward (and one could argue search engines already started doing this decades ago).
