Enlightenment for Buddha was realizing he just spent 6 years wandering the woods in homeless cosplay after ghosting his fancy palace, hot cousin wife and son, to starve himself with smelly barefoot LARPers in the woods. The enlightenment was a moment of mental clarity after he almost died of starvation and his friends left him for tasting milk. He realized some questions are unanswerable and he ruined his life to realize that. He was a deeply depressed and mentally ill individual who dissociated from unchecked mental disorders. Hence the “life is suffering” hence the “nirvana”. The guy spent the first 29 years of his life in a sensory depravation chamber made of silk and grapes and then wandered outside one day and saw that people get old and die. As expected he didn’t handle it very well.
The guy took a background assumption about life, Hindu beliefs in karma, reincarnation, and a prophesied Buddha, and ran with it. He started calling himself the Buddha and got away with it because his family had clout and he was supported by kings and given land and money to have monasteries built.
Now you have dozens of schools of Buddhism teaching different shit and people like you talking about an afterlife that don’t realize Buddha denied the existence of a soul. You think enlightenment is some magic thought and don’t even understand what it means.
