I'm planning to do a big camping meetup with a bunch of my friends next summer, but we decided it'd be good to go for the spooky experience. Where are the best places in the United States for that? Preferably in the Southeast but any recommendations are good.
I've had some weird experiences innawoods before but nothing that major, while a couple of us have had more wild ones. I want to see what we can get into together, basically. Foolish, perhaps, but I could use the adventure.

sup OP, lemme sit at your campfire for a while...
ahhhh yes.. so...
unfortunately I am a stranger in these lands so I don't know any spooky camp sites.
But I heard you talking about having had some weird experience in the woods, so if you don't mind, I'd appreciate a spooky/paranormal story now, but only if it really happened

Sure although the most notable one isn't that exciting. I'll give a quick preface though, this is mundane but it's important for later
>be me
>walking dog along trail through the woods back to family farm
>don't use a leash because he's a good boy
>suddenly decides for no reason to slip through a gap in a gate through a fence in a neighboring property
>doesn't listen to me when I tell him to come back, but that's also typical; he can be stubborn when he wants to
>run over, grab him, carry him back out over
>lost my sunglasses somewhere, can't find them at all.
probably at least half a year passes, some other events transpire in the area. I'll elaborate on that first before we get back to the sunglasses;
>be at the farm nestled in the woods
>one of the cows is having trouble delivering a calf, not looking great
>call vet out, but will be a while before he gets there
>suddenly have weird compulsion, one that feels like it came from outside of me somehow
>no words or anything, just a feeling that if I take my knife(it's an antique piece that I have carried and used a lot) and leave out out in a specific place in the woods nearby, everything will be fine
>doesn't feel hostile but I'm conflicted and a bit skeptical, decide to wait for vet to come and then if it looks bad I'll do it
>shoulda listened though, calf didn't make it. Strangled by umbilical cord on the way out.
It didn't feel like a hostile presence or like I was being extorted mind you, but like it was willing to help for a price. That said, I decide after that mess that I'd made a mistake and I go out to the spot I had felt about and left an offering there. That's when the sunglasses stuff comes back around, just a week or two later
>be walking down that same path, same way I go all the time
>suddenly, sunglasses are right there, right in the open, and completely untouched.
>not a speck of dirt, not under any leaves, completely spotless, perfect condition
>woulda been completely impossible to miss

I have had another weird instance by that same spot in the trail also where the woods were dead silent, no wind, but there was a bush just gyrating back and forth gently, but I sat there watching it for a while and it just kept going without ever seeming to lose momentum, while nothing else was moving an inch.

Ah thank you for sharing OP, seems like there is something on that spot there you described.
Interesting. I am trying to find elves, but have not had any success yet. The gyrating bush sounds particularly impressive.

I hope someone will give you some spooky campsite recommendations.
Actually investing haunted places is I think is the coolest thing. I was planning to investigate some haunted places in my region to sometime.
But as you I am stuggling to find good sources on haunted/spooky places in my area.

Sorry for long reply, busy day. My non-innawoods stuff is generally more interesting although not that relevant to the topic at hand.
One of the guys who is coming along has had much crazier stuff than me. See, I thought the "skinwalkers"(not the real navajo ones, the whack forest critters that pop up in stories here all the time) were basically fake and just something cooked up on boards like this for stories. But that dude was totally unaware of any of that and he got chased by something that nails the descriptions of one too perfectly to be a coincidence. So I'm a lot more open to the idea now.

Thanks, I'll look into that one. I like NC a lot, used to camp there in the summers although where I went was way further west, up in the mountains.

I try to be sometimes. I'm trying to get my life together and dedicate a certain amount of time every day to it. And if I miss some of that time I have to make it up later. Sorry to rant.
