Yeah, makes sense. Complacency of the masses is obviously what the people in charge strive for - what they need even, to stay in charge. Too rich and powerful and their influence gets challenged. Too poor and weak and they'll get their heads lobbed off by the desperate.

Once again it boils down to duality though. The internal conflict is much the same as the external. Work is necessary to sustain life, be it slaving for a corporation for some abstraction of value or tilling your fields directly for the value that the earth may spend.

Following the latter, which aligns with my values, is in my opinion as easy, if not easier, than the former. But then there is the risk of becoming that hermit, deprived of community because the rest of the community is adhering to the former, following the money bags and listening to what the man out of the woodwork has to say.
