I think my ex became close friends with a practicing Wiccan after our very messy breakup years ago. Especially over the last two years, my life has taken several unexpected negative turns. I've seen her wear things like picrel and know she's mentioned the witch friend a time or two, so I'm assuming there is a possibility she has been attempting hexes on me.

I am a believer of God and that Jesus is Lord. What can I do to counter or prevent these hexes?

1: Faith is the best defense from magic. One who is faithful does not need to fear curses, spirits, or demons.

Anon, your fear and paranoia is how things get to you. If bad things happen to you don't view it as a black magic curse and take it as God's will to bring you closer to him. Choose the path of transformation, not of fear.

You can do a long distance exorcism of them and their powers. Except this is dangerous and even if you are experienced it often doesn't work or makes things work. The problem with exorcisms is that you are trying to do a lot of the work yourself which involves needing a high level of spiritual wisdom which most people don't have.
The solution I believe is a consecration.
A consecration in fact is what I recommend.
A consecration is different to an exorcism in that God rather than you does the work.

With a consecration you are giving the job to jesus to do.
So if you pray something like "I consecrate X and Y and the dark forces around them and their negative attack on me to Jesus Christ our Lord. I pray that they turn away from evil but if not I ask humbly for Jesus to defeat their evil plots and protect me from evil. I also humbly pray that their evil thoughts be sent back to them a thousand fold. I ask Jesus to protect my mind, my body and my spirit and well as my home and possessions and protect me from all evil."
Feel free to compose a personal prayer using any well-known prayers you know as a guideline.
I had a similar experience as you and managed to successfully break the spell.
The individuals involved in fact suffered very bad luck and never bothered me again.
However I never prayed for harm to come to them I specifically prayed for them to turn from the path of evil and find God.
I prayed continuously for six months before the evil spell was broken suddenly.
Just remember when that happens to continue to pray daily giving thanksgiving for deliverance and hope for future protection.

You are cursing yourself, OP. Wiccans rarely curse someone because they believe that if you curse someone, it gets back to you three fold.

You should read about the phenomenon called the Nocebo effect. I believe you are experiencing something similar to this because you believe you have been cursed.

When you believe that someone is cursing you, you start to attribute every negative thing that happens to you to the curse. You will sink into paranoia and start to anticipate bad things happening to you. You will become a pessimist and ultimately, you will be your own undoing.

So in a way, your ex has cursed you, but not using magic; rather, she unintentionally caused you to curse yourself.

I am not a Wiccan, but I assure you that Wiccans in general wouldn't curse someone unless you have wronged that Wiccan in an unforgivable way. They are not left-hand path practitioners.

Do you deserve these "hexes"? It takes a lot of energy to put spells on others, so it's not a lark. Go to a Priest or Minister, confess that you've been an asshole, and get a blessing! You can fight it, but every avenue requires magick of some sort, and Prayer is magick; it's a part of Theurgy!
