I grew up on a Protestant family and they were very lenient. They preached against statues like you say, but otherwise they were fine.

I myself used to think that Protestants followed christ because of their ideals and desire to be good. I wanted to believe it was a selfless thing, but I found out they just want salvation, which honestly made me lose woke faith in humanity.
