So let me get this straight Tone, the EGO wants to express itself and live in a healthy body, creating art, living life, while simultaneously doing everything in its power to self-harm the person so he's sick and repressed?

It's called antiproduction, it's an integral part of every self-moving system.

Think of a snake shedding its skin and then eating it.

Damn you make a good point. Maybe there's something here.

I guess I was talking more along the lines of self-repression in the form of stopping your own evolution. Eating disorders, self-hatred.

Think of a Goth teen for example. Why is she Goth? Because of the ego. Then the shaming starts from the evil people:
"Stop expressing yourself, you're embarrassing everyone!

Or the corrupt spiritual community: "Ego is not allowed, you'll never make it to Enlightenment by being passionate. You need to sit and meditate all day!" Meanwhile none of these people get Enlightenment.

The Buddha nearly killed himself trying to kill the ego. Then he took up the middle path, which is the path of ego and spiritual balance.

That's dark. Have you been in nature lately? Often the most beautiful sights come from rot and death. A fallen tree becomes a home, and fungi grow in all its shadows. There are cycles of life everywhere we look, not just in individuals, and all transformation requires destruction. We have tools for aiming that destruction within, if we learn to use them.
